Oh, hey.
Carrie:It's Carrie and Christine, and we are best friends and owners of Lavender and Lace Boutique, an online women's boutique based outta Shere Park, Alberta, and we started a podcast just so we could hear ourselves talk.
Kristine:That's pretty much it. Welcome to Two Babes Podcast. Welcome to episode 1111, baby.
Carrie:Oh, we're really rocking it in these double digits. Yeah. Do you know what I
Kristine:like about this? Yeah. Is that we didn't quit. I know, right? Yeah. Congratulations for not being a quitter. Yeah.
Carrie:You know, that means a lot to me. Yeah. It does that we haven't quit. Yeah. Yeah.
Kristine:It's a big deal. So congratulations on for you guys for not quitting listening to us. Yeah. You know what? You're the real MVPs. You are the MVPs
Carrie:because this is sometimes a little bit of a Sha Basel because we
Kristine:would probably still go, we go in and have an episodes and there'd be nobody listening. So you guys are the
Carrie:real MVPs. Absolutely. And we can see how many people listen. Yeah. So we know. Yeah. If it's just us, we're watching you. We'll find you. We'll, we'll find you.
Kristine:We won't just for the record. Yeah. You know, for, uh, legal
Carrie:purposes. Yeah. And honestly, we
Kristine:too fucking lazy. Yeah. Way too lazy for that. Yeah. Yeah. Not happening. Yeah. No, it takes like all of my effort and energy just to walk to your, to your house. And you're only three minutes away. I know. So like, I'm not hiding anybody down. Mm-hmm. No, no, no. And not like if you are gonna go hunt somebody down, like you probably need to pack like supplies.
Carrie:I don't have no supplies.'cause you know who you'd need to take with you if you're hunt Nick? Yeah. Yeah. But I
Kristine:don't have like a, like a sword. See, I would show up to murder you with a sword in 2023. I was trying to come up with a machete, but sword was it? Yeah. Okay. So I don't have one. No, Nick does though. He actually has
Carrie:a sword, a samura sword. Yeah. It's not. For legal purposes. It is not sharpened. No, it's dull. It's one of those like fake ones. He's actually not a samurai. No. No, he's not. No. Um, he
Kristine:cont pretends. Yeah. So I don't have an, a backpack that could hold supplies. My backpack's fucking bright pink. Like I can't track anybody down. They're gonna find me before I find them. Oh yeah. You're not stealthy. It has reflectors
Carrie:on it. Yeah. Yeah. We're, and we're not, like, we don't move gracefully. No, no. Like there's nothing graceful about anything
Kristine:we do. No. When we're moving, people know. Yeah, So, We're not gonna hunt you down. Okay. Moral story. That's story. Moral of the story. Yeah. Listen,
Carrie:don't listen. Honestly,
Kristine:we're already on our first tangent. Yeah. Yeah. That's cool. Listen, don't listen.
Carrie:We'll, we'll be here regardless. Yeah, you do. You boo boo. But we do like it when you listen. Yeah, we prefer
Kristine:it. We do. I mean, nobody likes to work for nothing, you know what I mean? For three, three, an episode. Yeah. Those ads are really making bank over here. so occasionally you'll hear an ad go through our podcast periodically and uh, we, the first time we had ads, we made$4 and 55 cents. So we went and got some sodis at the store. We spent it,
Carrie:we spent probably more, yeah, because I think we bought chocolate bars. We
Kristine:did buy chocolate bars. I bought a$7 chocolate bar after
Carrie:taxes. That doesn't even buy like a,
Kristine:Nothing. Nothing. So, you know what we're, we're
Carrie:here for fun. Just so everybody's clear. Like this is purely for fun, I promise you. Yeah, yeah. And it is fun. It's why we can't take it too seriously. That's why we talk about
Kristine:swords.
Carrie:Alright.
Kristine:You guys wanna know something weird? We're recording on a Wednesday. This is weird. We're recording on the day that we're supposed to submit it. Yes. Because the week has already been fed Newed.
Carrie:Well, it's our summer sale week. Yeah. So there's just a lot happening around here. Yeah. Christine and I worked in the store where it was only supposed to be two hours yesterday. It wasn't only two hours. It was so busy.
Kristine:So busy. I felt like I was, I don't know. I was walking through the. On Amazon. It was wild. I don't know. It was so wild.
Carrie:can, can just talk about Apple watches for a second. Speaking of like walking a lot and all that. Okay, so every month your Apple Watch gives you a challenge to complete and I try to complete them every month. Um, my June challenge was, hold on, sorry. Sorry. Let's start at May.'cause, may I completed, may was I have to go 2.6 kilometers, 14 times in a month. Fine. Easy. June was five walking workouts in a month. Great. Love that. July was exercise. 20 exercise minutes a day, 14 days. Easy. Got that August. Earn this award by burning 627 calories a day. 14 times. What the fuck?
Kristine:Who can do? Nope. Thanks Apple. Watch. That's an asshole move. So I want
Carrie:this like, I want this award because it sits here and I don't want to be a quitter. So now I have to do that. But like way to build me up with these like easy challenges and then fucking throw that in the mix. That's,
Kristine:that's rude.
Carrie:Yeah. I'd write them a letter. I'm gonna, but I want my bags. 600 and what Calories? 6 27. 14 times. What do they want you to do? That's half
Kristine:the month. I wish I had accessed my phone.'cause I wanna see what I like. I think I get that in like a 14, 16 kilometer run and like, That's a L. That's a lot. You can't that for, how is it? I'm shook. They want you to do that 14 times. That's half
Carrie:the month, two weeks of that. I think I've, I think, I mean, and I did it quite a few times last month, so that's probably what they're basing it off of. But like so much for lazy
Kristine:August, I do a four long, like four long runs, so like 12 to 16, 18 kilometers four times a month and they want four times that. They want me to do it 14 times. Get bent. Steve Jobs. Yeah.
Carrie:like I didn't get that yesterday at that. I didn't get that yesterday and I like, I pretty much gave it my all yesterday, so I'm upset. That's,
Kristine:that's really stupid. I wanna tell you that. Thank you. I'm not
Carrie:happy about that. Thank you. Yeah, and I'm always excited for August 1st,'cause I'm excited to see what the challenge is for the month and see if I can do it. Yeah, it's
Kristine:like your birthday month. It's a good month. There's lots of things going on.
Carrie:Well, I'm not getting 627 cal calories 14 times this month.
Kristine:I think that's an actual joke. What? You should, you know what? I'll, I will trade you my watch when I go for those, when you long, when long runs. Because that's, it's dumb. I'm sh like, I don't even think I've said a full sentence yet because I'm just shook.
Carrie:Like I was taking you through and I told you like the first couple, and then it was like, boom. That's mean.
Kristine:I'm like, oh, you just go for a couple walks
Carrie:this month and you'll get it. Nope. Now you need to run a fucking marathon. 14 times. 14 times. Exactly. I'm
Kristine:being a little dramatic, but No, no, no, no. 600 and some calories. Mm-hmm. A workout. That's a, that's a, well that's a buttload just in the day. Oh, just oh, oh, but still, that's still a
Carrie:lot. I don't get that most days. I am usually around the 5 50, 5 75 mark. Same. So now I have to do like,
Kristine:oh, I thought that I really wanted you out of a workout. No, I was actually serious about writing a letter.
Carrie:No, just in a day you have to steam drop yourself. You just have to obtain it 14 times. But that's half the month. That's still a lot. And I, um, it's day two, so now I have to do it today. But like, what am I gonna do?
Kristine:Don't. Run barefoot on your treadmill. Oh, well. So it's segue into what we did this weekend. So how was your weekend? Okay. I wrote notes. Did you? Yeah, because I'm a forgetter. Okay. Friday I took Jace for a run and if you follow me on my Instagram, you would see I posted a lot of refrigerator talk. It is because I had no idea Jace was as big as he is until I ran beside him. Oh yeah. It was like running beside a van. Yeah. I had no clue. I kept like checking over my shoulder. Yeah. To like see what it was.'cause we were like, for the most part we weren't talking too much. Yeah. But he, I just like, he startled me so many times and he is like a refrigerator. He's massive. Yeah. And I didn't really realize, I had no idea how big he was. Yeah. So we went for a run Friday. Great run. By the way. He did a good job. Saturday. We did. I had a long run. This is like my, uh, my weekend wasn't very exciting until one point. Didn't you go do stuff on Friday?
Carrie:Didn't you go pick
Kristine:your, uh, plumbing? Oh yeah, we did pick plumbing. I dunno. Was that exciting? No. Well, I mean, yeah, I got like the shower stuff I wanted and like the shower heads.'cause I wanted a big daddy.'cause I, if you guys do have, have followed us for a while, I've mentioned many times that I live in my shower. I take like hour showers. Um, I sit on my floor and just let the rain fall on me. Yeah. Um, so I was like very particular of what I wanted in my shower. This go around. So yeah, we did that. Um, we had Mr. Sub
Carrie:that day jealous. It was
Kristine:so good. Mm-hmm. Um, yeah. So that was, that was funny. It wasn't really that exciting. Um, Saturday. Um, I had a long run. I did 14 kilometers. Jace rode his bike beside me for the first nine. Yeah, that was really nice. But I would like to tell you that I'm actually quite a slow runner. Like I'm not very fast. Mm-hmm. Especially on an easy run where I'm not pushing. It's more like a relaxed run. Right. So he could barely make a rotation on his pedals and he did that for nine kilometers. Yeah. That's how he didn't hurt himself as beyond me. Right. Yeah. And uh, and then he actually ran the last five, which was awesome'cause we like pushed each other and it was really good and thoroughly enjoyed it. Saturday evening or Saturday afternoon is where the festivities began. Uh, we went to the Deacons. Uh, it was Nick's birthday. Yeah. So, um, he wanted to watch the old, uh, baseball game and have some drinks. So we did just that. We did. And uh, then we played some video games in the evening, and we have other stories with that as well. But Carrie will get to it when she talks about her weekend. Yeah. Um, I just wanna mention that if you think your life is stressful right now, I'd like you to go back and play some N 64 Mario Kart and you'll be humbled really fucking quick. That is the most stressful thing. I thought my heart was gonna come outta my chest. Like, and that's
Carrie:how I felt about Super Mario three. I
Kristine:have never, it's so stressful. I've never sworn so much my whole life. It was so bad. I said bad words. Mm-hmm. Like prick a lot. Yeah. And uh, like my kid knows, she remembers. Yeah. Oops. I taught my niece a new word. I told her she wasn't allowed to swear. But, um, I posted about it on my Instagram and my aunt actually Reapp replied. And I was like, I remember how often I was grounded as a child because I. I would swear, like I would get too stressed out. Yeah. And like if my anxiety would just like peak. This is where my anxiety comes from. It's from, it's from video games. Mario Kart. Yeah. Yeah. So, and she's like, yes. She's like, I remember that. You were like always, they'd always have to take the N 64 away from me.'cause I was just, I'm not good at keeping it cool. I get very competitive. So we did that and it was a blast. And we got home at like two o'clock in the morning or something like that. One 30 You left at 12. Oh yeah. I left. I
Carrie:had to call it quits. You left Jason and I to play Super Mario. We didn't give Nick the controller one time after you left. It was just Jason and I. Yeah. And he had the levels he was good at and I had the levels I was good at. And we, we good. But the problem is, is when we were kids, we used to play this sober. Yeah. Obviously. Obviously now we're trying to play this drunk. Yeah. So we were way better as kids.
Kristine:We were terrible. Oh yeah. So brutal. The night. Yeah. That was really hard. Yeah. But it was a lot of fun. Mm-hmm. I would do it again. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So I went home, I had a shower and then, uh, that's funny. Yeah. I went to bed and then I was out done Sunday. Jace had basketball. So the refrigerator was busy doing more activities, playing basketball. Yeah. Did not injure himself then. No. But he, uh, and then we had sushi Sunday. And then it rolled into the, it
Carrie:was week. Summer sale stuff. Summer sale, yeah. I spent a lot of time this weekend getting the sale ready. Mm-hmm. Yeah. That was my weekend. Same. Same. Yeah. Like Friday, Nick and I went to the Bountiful Farmer's Market, which is my new favorite Farmer's market. Yeah. And I've never
Kristine:been. Yeah. No, I've never been either. Love it. I hear lots of good things. Yeah.
Carrie:It was amazing. It's so, such a big building. Yeah. It's inside, which is nice. That is nice. They do it for three days. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I guess. Nice. And uh, we bought meat. Yeah. We went for meat. I see. I
Kristine:went for blueberries. I did
Carrie:see the meat in your fridge. Yeah. So I went for blueberries. Yeah. Nick went for. Beef Beef cow. And then, uh, honestly, my Friday was, I worked most of it. Yeah. Because I, I procrastinated during the week on some of the things I had to do for the summer sale.
Kristine:Yeah. That was my evening Friday. Yeah. I did a and morning Saturday. Yeah.
Carrie:I did a lot of work. And then, um, Saturday morning and then obviously it was Nick's birthday, so I didn't actually plan on Saturday. Being an afternoon of drinking, I honestly thought that we were gonna, you guys were gonna come watch baseball. I was gonna go do my walk. Like it was just gonna be lax and then maybe we'd have dinner, thought it was gonna be like, no big thing. Well, it turned into a big thing and around four 30 I looked at Christine and I was like, I haven't done my five K walk yet today. And I was like, crap, when the hell am I gonna do this? So she's like, well, when we go downstairs and play video games, you should just go walk on the treadmill. Run on the treadmill and I was like, yeah, good idea. Yeah. So in between levels of me playing.'cause obviously like when you're playing old school, um, video games, you take
Kristine:turns and that like how that rule is consistent. Yeah. Like that's how the rule was when we were kids and now that's when we're you take turns, you pass the
Carrie:remote around. If you die, you're out the remote. Yeah. but like here we are, you pass that controller around and anytime it wast my turn, I ran to the treadmill and I decided I was going to sprint on the treadmill. Not run, not like leisurely pace, no sprinting. And the kicker. What was the kicker, Christine? What did I do? Oh,
Kristine:it was basically a episode of Naked and Afraid. Here she, and by that she was fully clothed, but she was barefoot. I ran barefoot on
Carrie:the treadmill. I sprinted barefoot on the treadmill. My, my, um, arch on my right foot. Yeah, I believe it still hurts. Oh, and it was really painful and I don't actually recommend. Okay. Two things I don't recommend. Um, Do as I say, not as I do, don't run on the treadmill drunk. I just don't think that's wise. Yeah. You know, like, especially'cause I was sprinting like full out, like giving it all I had. Yeah. Kind of sprinting. I just don't think that's anyone's best move. And if you're gonna do it, clip that little thingy on you so if you fall, the treadmill stops because I did not clip the thingy on me. So that could have been my demise there. Uh, it could have been a night that ended in the hospital. And two, don't do it barefoot because holy hell, my like, ankles and calves were so sore the next day.'cause they obviously were using muscles to like stabilize me while I was running. Yeah. That normally your sneakers do. Right? Right. Like your sneakers provide that, like ankle foot stabilization. No, my, my ankles and calves were doing that. And like those aren't muscles that you activate, so I
Kristine:activated them and that's No, no, we didn't activate those. I was
Carrie:like, I was like, limpy, magoo. I was limpy Magoo for two days. But you did it. I
Kristine:got my five K. You did it. Um, not ju like you did. Um, I did some on the treadmill, some outside, um, during dinner.'cause we had, um, which is another conversation itself. By the way. The prices of crab is ridiculous. Like I'm flabbergasted. Yeah. Are you gonna stop eating it? No. Still pay it. Um, but we. So the other day I was craving crab. And then, so I asked, like asked Nick and Carrie, I'm like, well, what do you, what do you want? And she's like, well, let me talk to Nick and see what he wants. I'm like, well, how about crab? And then, so, yeah, he, he also really loves crab. So we went and picks him up, and then the prices were just ridiculous. But anyway, so while we were finishing our crab, carrie's like, well, I'm gonna go take a couple laps here around the block. Yeah. So we're eating, and then you hear a woo-hoo, we can see Carrie across the way. Yeah. Waving as she's walking with her drink in her hand and her crocs on her feet with socks,
Carrie:Crocs, and socks. You guys, I have Crocs and socks. So, but she did it. She crushed her, her girl. Also, also, um, last week during the episode, did I say I was gonna post some things on Instagram and I didn't. Some pictures and some things for people to see.
Kristine:I don't know. Maybe
Carrie:I'd have to go back. I, I think I did. And now I Of what? Well, I don't know.
Kristine:I don't know. I'd have to look. I feel like
Carrie:I did. I said I was gonna post some stuff and I didn't.
Kristine:The good thing is though, it's just the beginning of the episode. So like in the first 20 minutes mm-hmm. That we'd have to look back at. Yeah. But I can look back tonight when I'm
Carrie:editing this one. Yeah. Let me know.'cause I'll post them on Instagram now. Okay. And then,'cause I was gonna post a picture of my socks and my
Kristine:Crocs. Yeah. Nice. Sick,
Carrie:because I was out for a walk and, uh, posting my socks and my Crocs. So, uh, yeah, it was good. And then Sunday
Kristine:Summer sale.
Carrie:Summer sales. Summer sale. Yeah. It was our summer sales, so I had to get up pretty early and make sure that everything was happening. I. Set an alarm for five to make sure the website went down. And then I, um, got up at like seven and made sure all the calculators were running to do all the markdowns. And they did. That's good. Yeah. It was kind of nice. Yeah. And, uh, it was pretty lax. My Sunday was lax. I did laundry and got myself ready for the week. And yeah, it was
Kristine:good. We like, we're prepared, like, I mean, we're usually prepared, prepared, but this time I felt like we were extra prepared. We were like, we, I was started working at like eight o'clock or something. Eight 15. Mm-hmm. And, uh, we were making, we were doing a little bit of extra. Yeah. Because we had the time to
Carrie:do it. Normally you and I are like scrambling. The website goes on, we're scrambling to get everything
Kristine:done. Yeah. And this time we actually had time to do some extra things, which was really nice. It was good. Um, I felt. Maybe it's because this go around, you and I were very much in control of it.
Carrie:Maybe, but I felt control, but I'm always in control
Kristine:of the markdowns. Yeah, no, but this time was like the social media, like the, yeah. Events and stuff. I felt very like in control of it. Like I,
Carrie:yeah. So maybe we just had a handle on the full shebang. I don't know. I don't know. It felt good. Or maybe you and I are just,
Kristine:Seasoned veterans. Yeah. That we know what we're doing. I have no idea. Maybe, but idea.
Carrie:Probably not, I don't think. We don't really know what we're doing. No.
Kristine:So that was the weekend if you did shop our summer sale. I hope you guys loved it. Yeah, it was good. It was really fun. Uh, when this goes tomorrow, our summer sale's still on. Yeah. So if you are listening and you haven't had a chance to shop yet, do it.'cause it's, it's a solid, solid sale. What are you giggling at?
Carrie:Nick just texted me'cause he's at the park with the kids. Yeah. And he's like, did I just weeded the school? Oh my god. Garden beds. Yes. I did Like old man rivers over there. That's so funny. Nick has both
Kristine:kids because my husband, um, injured himself last night at basketball. He did? Yeah. So he texted me last night. He's like, I hurt my. Foot during the last play. And I didn't, he, he kind of downplayed the text, so I was like, I texted back, oh no. With like eight
Carrie:o's dramatic, you know? Yeah. Oh, like being buddy. Yeah. Because you're like, oh, shoot. Yeah.
Kristine:And he's like, yeah, it hurts. I'm like, okay, whatever. And then, so I was at home with Scarlet myself, so I was like doing bedtime and blah, blah, blah. I'd never replied to him. He must've texted me saying that he got home, but I didn't see it. Yeah. Because I was doing bedtime and, uh, he, he crawls up the stairs, crawls like, dude, you know, I'm doing bedtime. Like, just wait for me downstairs. Yeah, I'm coming. Gimme a hot second. He crawls upstairs and he shows me his foot and it's like purple and so massive. He, uh, ended up tearing his planter Facia. Facia. Yeah. Facia. So, It's, it's a pretty rough injury, so that sucks. So anyway, he didn't get home until five 30 last night. And, uh, this morning. This morning, sorry. And now Nick has the girls because I wanted, well we all wanted Jace to have a solid sleep r rather than waking up and, uh, having to parent mm-hmm. While I was at work. So he, uh, hopefully he is still sleeping. Yeah. So we're dealing with that. Woo. Yeah. And we had Vegas in like three and a half weeks.
Carrie:Oh my God. So last night. Yeah. Because I drove Jace to the hospital last night. Yes. Because, because again, I was at home with Scarlet. Yeah. So I drove Jace and the whole time I was driving home, I'm like, I, not that I care'cause we're going for my birthday or anything, whatever. If we had to move it'cause Jace hurt himself or whatever. I, it does. Doesn't matter to me, but I felt bad for him.'cause I was like, if he ends up in a cast or some shit. Yeah. Like, he can't go in the pool. He can't walk on the strip. No. He can't go out to the bar and dance. Like he can't do anything. No. I'm like, and he loves all of that. I know. And I was, I felt so bad for him. Yeah. And I'm like, I, I said to Nick last night, I was like, man, like I hope we don't have to move this trip for like, not for me, but like for Ja.'cause I don't want him to feel bad. Mm-hmm. But I didn't wanna go to Vegas and him not be able to do
Kristine:anything. Yeah. Thankfully he's not in a cast. He's not in a boot. No. He'll be okay. Yeah. He just has to do active recovery. So a lot of physio work. So we'll see how that goes. But poor guy, my poor guy is always injured, always something wrong. Old man river's just trying to keep it young, you know? Yeah,
Carrie:yeah. Trying to keep it hip and fresh. But he's, he's gonna be three six.
Kristine:Yeah. I mean, He's in like, you know, good shape,
Carrie:great shape, but like when you're old. Yeah. Like when you start getting older, things just start like, I know.
Kristine:Poor guy. Slowly going. So when I watched his game on Sunday, he was playing it, their team was against like a bunch of 18 to 20 year olds. Oh yeah. And it was fucking funny. Yeah. Like they looked old. Yeah. And like Jace's team was like the youngest, probably 30 oldest, 44, 45. Yeah. And you can, they look like, like senior citizens. Mm-hmm. Compared
Carrie:to these kids. I really notice it in my last, in the last couple years of my life, I really, really notice the difference between me and like 20 year olds. Like I really see it and I didn't, I don't feel old. No. And other than when I like, you know, run on a treadmill barefoot and I can't move anymore, but I never feel old. But I notice the big difference in. The age gap now to me, I
Kristine:can really see the energy level difference. Yes. Like they are ready to go. Yeah. And I'm like, I'm ready to go to bed. Yeah. Like I, yeah. I don't want to, no. The other day Jason and I were gonna watch a movie and I noticed it was seven 30 and I said, oh, that's too late to start a movie. Like, I used to go to the bar at 11 o'clock at night at the earliest and start
Carrie:my night. Yeah. Oh. We used to not get ready till like eight or 9, 9
Kristine:30, and my movie would've been done at nine 30. And I said, hell no. No,
Carrie:not tonight. That's when we would just start like drinking and getting ready. Yeah. Because you know, you'd all get ready together and have drinks. Absolutely. Yeah. And music and like make a party of getting ready. Yeah. No, no. Mm. Uhuh. Not at
Kristine:all. I could. I could not. Yeah. So those kids were just ripping down the court and then these old guys were like, wait for me? Yeah. Like that's, it was pretty fucking funny.
Carrie:Yeah. I really noticed it when we went to Morgan Wallen. Yeah, because like, I mean, obviously the crowd was a very large variety of ages, but you'd see all the young people and you're like, I'm fucking old. Yeah. Like I am fucking old. Yeah. Yeah. Which, speaking of, I'm going to Morgan Wallen again this weekend on Saturday. Congratulations. Just so everybody knows,
Kristine:I'm excited for you. Oh, I'm so excited. I just, I just love live music.
Carrie:I love concerts. Me too. And I'm not, I know.'cause everyone that's listening is like, oh my God. I thought you said you don't like, uh, music festivals. I don't. I really don't. And I don't, let's make that clear. I don't love Big Valley and it's not my fave, but my love for Morgan Wallen outweighs my hate for that. And my two options were Saddledome or Big Valley. And I will pick Big Valley over Saddledome. So that's a pretty fair choice, you know? So I was like, it's one or the other and let's just do it. And it kind of surprised me and arranged the whole thing for me. So, yeah. That's
Kristine:really nice. Yeah. So that's exciting. Yeah. What
Carrie:a time to be alive. I'm so excited to see'em again. So speaking of tickets,
Kristine:so I'm supposed to be getting an email or concerts. I'm supposed to be getting an email today from Ticketmaster with more instructions about this verified Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah. I haven't gotten the email yet and I know it's only 11:00 AM but like, where the fuck it
Carrie:at? It usually like goes out all afternoon. I was gonna
Kristine:check Jace's email also this morning. Yeah. But I don't look at his phone and I, I felt like it was too much. Yeah, yeah. Even just to look for Ticketmaster. I was like, that's too, do you have teeth in right now? No. It's weird. I forgot my name is the line. Yeah. No, I don't, didn't forget it. Sorry. It's in the car. Yeah, because I, when I stopped at Starbucks this morning, I also got breakfast. Oh, okay. And uh, I took them out and I forgot to put them back in. Sorry, I
Carrie:didn't mean to interrupt you. No, I just, no, it's noticed they weren't in.
Kristine:Yeah, no, they're not there. Yeah. Yeah. So, but yeah, so I'm just waiting on an email. I
Carrie:also don't like breaking into fuels phones.
Kristine:Yeah. No, I don't feel so. For me, yes. It, like, I couldn't even go look to see if Ticketmaster send an email. Yeah. You know?
Carrie:Yeah.
Kristine:I'm not that person. And Nick asked me today, he's like, is Jason's phone on? I'm like, no idea. Mm-hmm. Couldn't tell you. I didn't even touch it. I put a bottle of Advil on it and that was as the closest I got to his phone. Yeah. No. Yeah. Uh, unless he like gives me permission mm-hmm. To like, look at something. Let's say I didn't have my phone with me or something. Yeah. And I need to Google something.'cause I need to know'cause it feels yucky. Yeah. I'm not a big fan of that all. No.
Carrie:I don't even like when you're like, oh, can you just like go and like when we're driving and you're like, oh, can you go onto my phone? And like, I'm,'cause I feel like bad scrolling through your apps. I
Kristine:don't know why. Well, the apps are just such I know, but, you know, struggle. I know. Like, I just don't like Yeah. Makes me, it just not my f No, I get it. I understand. It's not my, I don't sound like going people's
Carrie:phones in general, it's,
Kristine:it's just so private.
Carrie:Yeah. And like, I feel bad'cause one of the,'cause my daughter Brooke has a phone and, uh, one of the things I don't like, I, we do go through her phone because like, she's nine. Yeah. But, and it, it's gonna be the rule forever that her phone is allowed to be,
Kristine:Looked through. Yeah. Well her phone was your phone because you paid for it. Yeah. Well she's
Carrie:a kid, right? Yeah, exactly. Even, even when she's an older kid. I still think that that's something that you should be allowed to, like, that's rule. Yeah. Like nothing should be private on your phone when you're a kid. And even then, that makes me feel yucky. I'm like,
Kristine:I watched, it was a real or something. Probably reel.'cause I, I do, I watch those more often. But it was, uh, a really good one about parenting and phones and we're not quite there yet, but it was good information for later on. Mm-hmm. And the guy mentioned, he's like, he said just like what? I said, it's not their phone, it's your phone'cause you pay for it. And you gave them that Yep. Privilege to have. Um, and then he also does two, um, random check-ins on the phone. Yep. Uh, where he gets the phone for however long he needs it, just to go through it completely. Yep. And he gets two and he's not allowed to do it more. And like, that's cool. Just at random time throughout the week. So two times a week he goes through it and I just thought that was Bri. Brilliant. Yeah. Because you, the kid will never know. No. Right. So like they've gotta be on their best behavior. Yeah. And obviously just teaches them to be respectful Yeah. With the phone and blah, blah, blah. I thought that was really neat. Yeah.'cause that
Carrie:night, so like Brooke doesn't have like free rein with her phone, but at night by eight o'clock it has to be plugged in. Yeah. For summer, it'll change when school starts, but it has to be plugged in on the counter in the kitchen by eight. And so anytime after that week. Yeah.
Kristine:Yeah. It's gonna be a whole new world when we get there. Mm-hmm. Scroll. Constantly asking for one. Mm-hmm. She might get one in a little bit here just because like she's gone like starting fall. We're not sitting during her gymnastics. Yeah. We're not sitting there for Yeah. A three and a half hour class. It is. Yeah. That's crazy. I'm already doing the two and yeah. Two hours, 45 minutes and I, I don't hate it. It's just, it's a long time for a parent to be sitting there, so we're not gonna be doing it. So I, we're probably leaning towards getting her one just'cause she's, yep. But she's like, she can read. Mm-hmm. She's having trouble spelling like, not trouble, but like, she's only, she's not even seven yet. Yeah. So she's not fully there. Yeah. So it's complicated. I wish I
Carrie:would've waited until Brooke was 10, Nick and had that conversation. Yeah.
Kristine:But again, the only thing, the only reason why we are looking is, or potentially talking about it's because of the sports. Right. And she's out of our care for so long. Yeah, that's
Carrie:fair. It's tough. Mine was when Brooke,'cause Brooke has really bad allergies. Yes. When she's at people's houses. Yeah. That was my thing. Especially because not everyone has home phone anymore. Yeah. No, because Brooke doesn't take hers to gymnastics. Maybe she does. She has it at camp.
Kristine:Yeah, fair enough. Because they can't take'em to school. Right.
Carrie:Yeah. So it's a, it's a very tricky, it's a tricky balance. But allergies were my trigger for that. Yeah.
Kristine:Because what are the reasons that, wait, why you would have waited?
Carrie:I just feel like it becomes a thing. Yeah. Like it's your, you know, it's very early and like we do have a lot of boundaries with when she's allowed to use it. But it's like, it's always a thing. She always wants it. Right. And she always wants to like, Do something on it. Yeah. Yeah. And like, it's just one more screen that she has in her life. And I, it it just like, it's an all consuming thing. Yeah. It's the same for adults or teenagers. Right. Of course. And like, I wish I would've waited till she was just a little bit older. Mm-hmm. But again, she was starting to go over to friend's houses and I just was with her allergies and stuff. I was just very uncomfortable with her not having any way to contact us. Yeah, fair enough. But again,
Kristine:you know. Yeah, it's tough.'cause then they wanna be on it when they have company over, like friends over. Yeah. And it's like, and it's, it's hard.'cause then like they, it's noticed and their friends notice it too. Yeah. Like it's tough. Yeah. So I get it. I understand it completely. Both sides. All sides. Yeah. So
Carrie:it's like, she has different rules when like school's back in versus like summer and stuff. But you know, it's always a thing. It's just another thing. You have to like create rules around, you know. Yeah.
Kristine:Yeah. How old were you when you had your first cell phone?
Carrie:I was pretty young. Yeah. I, I was definitely like one of the first, if not the first person I knew that had one, but I was probably in like grade five or six. Yeah, I was young. Yeah. Like really young.
Kristine:Amanda and I had one to share when I was, um, I think I was 12 or 13 and she was 14, 15, so she was in high school. Yeah. We had a bunch to share. And then I got my own personal one was when I was 17, but I had to pay for it. Oh, okay. So that
Carrie:was, I definitely had one through all of high school. Yeah. And junior, most of junior high, I think.
Kristine:Yeah. I had to, my mom's ex-boyfriend put his name down for me to get it. Oh. Because like, yeah. Uh, I can't remember. Mom couldn't, I don't remember what Yeah. But she didn't, or she couldn't, whatever. And my dad was like, firm on like, I'm not paying for this. So like, no. Yeah. You get yourself a job. You, if you want this, you have to do it. So then he did it. And uh, and then I was very responsible with it.'cause like I was quite responsible Yeah. As a, as a kid.
Carrie:I just feel like phones are so different than they were when we were kids. Oh. Like all you could do is like, make phone calls on them and play snake. And
Kristine:snake was badass. It was. And like this end, a text message took 30 minutes. Yeah. Yeah. Like that's why we had the short keys, like, yeah,
Carrie:you are too. And like, I don't feel like, like texting was a thing until I was in high school.
Kristine:Yeah.
Carrie:And I remember when you used to get the bill and it would show every text message. Yeah. Like what a wild time. Right. So yeah. Kids in technology, it's just, it's such a tricky little navigator.
Kristine:You know? Everybody in technology is hard. It is to navigate. It
Carrie:is.'cause it's very like, it's just part
Kristine:of your life and like cell phones Yeah. Have been around for a while, but this is still very new. Yeah. Especially with how, what the cell phone offers. Yeah. Anyway, should
Carrie:we actually dive into our episode? We should also, just a note, um, the book club has officially started, so if you are reading The Happy Place by Emily Henry, I'm so excited. We're so excited. Yeah. So that we can to our episode at the end of the month. Um, I have. It started, but I'm not very far. But don't you worry by the 27th I'll be deep in it. Um, Christine and I a couple times a week, I guess we'll post on our stories. You can ask questions or give your feedback and Yeah. Then we have some stuff to talk
Kristine:about on the episode. Yeah. And we'll post, um, we'll post some like questions that we're going to reference when during that episode, so then you can kind of answer along with us Yep. As well. Um, so we'll, we'll probably get started on that probably next week. Mm-hmm. Just give us a little bit more time to get into the book. Yep. Um, we do have a giveaway going on our Instagram right now. It'll still be on when this episode airs, so make sure you go and, uh, enter that. We'll also have one in the insiders group, which should probably, yeah, we're just, We're not there yet. Summer sale you guys. Yeah. It's all consuming. It is. I texted my friend Taylor, and I'm like, Hey, just letting you know I'm not dead. He's like, cool, great. He's like, no, if I ever wanna do a a check-in, I just check your business page. I'm like, thank you. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah.
Carrie:Yeah. It's been, it's been busy. Yeah. It's
Kristine:been nuts, but Here we are. Anyway, so episode. Wow. I feel like we had a whole episode already before episode. Yeah.
Carrie:Which is okay because it's great. You know, it's sometimes it's nice to just catch up. So this episode we are talking about the changing seasons with fashion. Yeah. How we handle it. How we feel about it. Mm-hmm. And just like buying for each season. Yeah. Because it's, it's a
Kristine:And how it works in general. It does. Yeah.
Carrie:Like it's so different. Yeah. Because then and everyone we deal with is so different too. Correct.
Kristine:Every, every business is
Carrie:different. Yeah. So in case you guys don't know, um, for example for fall, um,'cause we're heading into fall 2023 right now. Christine and I started buying fall back in February.
Kristine:Yep. So we are always switched. Yes. It's kind of a weird feeling. It's kind of a mind fuck. Yeah. Um, so spring we're ordering Fall. Yeah. Fall. We're ordering spring and summer. Yeah. It's a little bit mm-hmm. Convoluted and weird. Um, and when we're. You guys are asking for things we're like, oh my God. Like we already, like we did that, but you guys don't know if we did that. Like it's just
Carrie:weird. Yeah. It's so hard. And some of our vendors you can sneak peek things. Some you can't. Yeah. Some are very strict with what we can talk about. Um, Grayson Lace, for example, is one where we see a preview really early, but we can't release that information until they do. Yes. Whereas like Dex, we ordered that in spring. We could show all their fall line if we really wanted to. Yep. We don't,
Kristine:but we could. Yeah. And the ones that don't allow us to preview things, we can actually lose our opportunity to sell their items. Product Yeah. Their products. So we have to be very careful in what we do Yeah. And
Carrie:what we say. Yeah. Same with Hilberg. Yes. We get to see what they're launching in advance. It's not allowed to be, um, shown until they launch it themselves or they sneak it
Kristine:themselves. Yeah. Good thing for us, if we're not looking at it often, we probably already forgot. Yeah. Absolutely. So that's a,
Carrie:that's a bonus there. Yeah. And sometimes Christine and I are like, wow. Did, did we order that or did we see it? Or have we not even had a ti chance to order that yet? It's so, yeah. It's, it's a lot to keep in mind. And then a lot of our other vendors, we kind of are ordering only like a month or a couple weeks out. Mm-hmm. Or like immediate. That's right. Sometimes we can order stuff that are gonna come right away. Yeah. So it's all over the, it's all over the map. Mm-hmm. And we're releasing stuff like a month and a half before the season even. Thinks about happening. Yes.
Kristine:Which is also hard. Yes. It's really hard to, um, pinpoint exactly when, let's say like for, let's use right now current. Mm-hmm. As an example. So right now, um, in, I mean we're August, but July, we need to pinpoint the time and the date where we start releasing the, the fall. Things fall, but we're like, we are just prepping our summer sale. Yeah. So like it's, it, it kind of gets a little bit confusing. Yes. Um, when to actually start dropping it because like we are in the thick of our summer sale. You guys are still wanting those summer items, but yet you also want fall, fall pieces. But we haven't even hit August yet. No. Like, we haven't even hit the, the hottest time of our
Carrie:summer. No. And it, I find it makes me feel like summer's over. Yes. Because you and I are prepping for
Kristine:fall, I always feel like our summers are super short because
Carrie:we are mentally, we're not in we're bad season. Yeah.
Kristine:Which is wild. It's so weird. And we have to start thinking about like the outfits we're like already visualizing Yeah. Wearing them and like the weather and we're
Carrie:modeling them. And we were doing photos last week in sweatshirts and I was freaking dying. Yeah.'cause it was 30 degrees outside. Yeah. It's
Kristine:awful. Yeah. It's really, really weird to wrap our heads around it. We've been doing this for eight years, but it's still really hard to wrap our head around. Yeah. The fact that we're always ahead of time.
Carrie:Yeah. And I find, um, the hardest one is this one because it makes me feel like summer's over. Yeah. But the one that we actually start the earliest is starting to release spring. Yes. We release spring in January. Yeah. Like as soon as Christmas is over and New Year's is over, you guys are ready to start buying spring stuff. Yeah. So like, you're almost done buying it by may.'cause you, you don't wanna buy anymore. Right, exactly. It's such a, it's so
Kristine:finicky. It's so weird. And like the provinces, all the, the weather is slightly different. Right. So like our. Um, British Columbia customers are a little bit different'cause it starts getting a little bit warmer towards the coast and like Yeah. In, um, Ontario it starts getting warmer. Way warmer than here. Yeah. Um, at that point. And then everybody else is in between. So like, we have to really like, cover it all. Yes. Right. So like, so Alberta customers might not want the tank top in January, but like, Vancouver. Yeah. You you are. They're getting ready. The gals in, in Kelowna, they're mm-hmm. They're ready. Mm-hmm. So like, it's really hard to like really figure that out and like, and time it right. Time it. Right. Because how many tank tops can we release for our coast people? Of course. And how many keep, how many sweaters can we keep going for all burs and mm-hmm. Saskatchewan customers because it's so cold here still. Yeah. So it is a fickle, fickle bitch.
Carrie:It really is. It's hard. It really is. And it took us a really long time to even like wrap our minds around the fact that people would be ready to start shopping so early. Yeah. Like bathing suits. We launched. Started launching in April.
Kristine:Yeah. And we probably could have done a little bit earlier. Yeah. If they would've shown up for sure. Absolutely. Yeah, we could have. It's just wild. It is wild. Yeah. It is really weird. So like if, yeah. I don't
Carrie:know. Yeah, it's definitely a weird one to wrap your head around. So wild. And so Christine and I travel. Two to four times a year for buying? Yeah. It depends. This year it's only gonna be three. Um, some years it's four. Some years it's only two. We do two buying trips to Vancouver. Mm-hmm. Those are my favorite ones. Me too. So we go in February, March to buy for fall, and then we go in August, September to buy for next spring. Yeah. So like we are about to go buy for next spring right away. Yeah. But we're launching fall. Well, and we're still and Summer and we're still buying Fall from our other vendors for current. Yeah. It's really, it's very wild. And then we go to Magic twice a year. Sometimes. We're actually not going in August. Mm-hmm. Um, it's actually next week for Magic already, which is really strange. We're not going for a couple reasons. One, It's August long weekend. Yeah. And like we really appreciate time with our families in the summer. Yeah. Two flights because it's August long weekend. Were so expensive. Ridiculous,
Kristine:and like not consistent. No. Yeah.
Carrie:There's none. No. So we would've been literally gone the entire week to go shopping for two days.
Kristine:Yeah. And like we can't, no,
Carrie:can't. It's just not justifiable right now. No. So we opted not to go. Um, we do have the chance in September if we wanna go go to LA and go meet some of our vendors. That's always an option. Or they come here, it's just this year it wasn't happening. But when we do magic in August, we're buying for fall. Yeah. And then when we do magic in February, we're buying for spring, summer. So you're buying usually the current season that you're dealing with. Yeah. Like the one that's just happening. Mm-hmm. So
Kristine:it always varies. It it does. And they always do offer like the immediates, but then they also offer future. Yeah. So it's like, it's a kind of a big mixed bag. Yeah. Which you have to be careful for because you do shopping. You guys know shopping. You can just get like, ah, I love shopping. And get really excited.
Carrie:Yeah. And then get outta control. Yeah. And then there's also dealing with, so even if we were like, okay, for August we're gonna buy X amount of pieces for September, we're gonna buy X amount of pieces, October, et cetera, et cetera. Sometimes they don't, they ship it like months earlier. Yeah. And then you're like, well, I'm not ready for this, nor did I budget for this. Yes, exactly. So it becomes so tricky. Yeah. It really is fickle. And it was a lot easier when we were smaller because we were dealing with a lot less volume. Mm-hmm. But now that we're bigger and we're buying for. So much more. Mm-hmm. We can't take triple the amount of inventory in a month. No. Like, there's no budget for that. And there is no space for that. And there's no staff to process that. I was gonna say, nor is there manpower. No. It's like none of it. No, no. We definitely, like, we have to space it out, so we're just not going to magic this August. No. And that's pretty much the reason why. That's okay.
Kristine:We have, um, like you, like Carrie mentioned, we have the opportunity to still travel later on in the year to go see our vendors. We also, um, have a very good relationship with a, a lot of our vendors mm-hmm. That, um, we buy online with and we can do Zoom calls, um, or um, they can send us samples. Exactly. So we have, just because we don't go to magic doesn't mean that there's gonna be less things or less variety. No, no. We just have to do it in a different way rather than seeing the things in person. So, um, and we've done that. Um, without, without going to magic. Especially over covid. Yeah. We killed it during that. Like we, it was great because of like the mm-hmm. The communication ev got even better. Mm-hmm. Which was really nice. Um, granted we didn't get to see the people in, in person, which does bite because we liked to make those relationships. Absolutely. But we also gained that communication still. Mm-hmm. That makes any sense. And
Carrie:it's nice when you're not buying super far in advance because you can also, you know, watch the styles change. And another big thing, especially this year that I've found, I know Christine and I talk about it all the time. Things are so up and down this year. Yeah. Um, you know, It's, I used to be able to look at the previous year and kind of predict what the rest of the year was gonna look like. That got thrown completely outta the door probably a year ago. Mm-hmm. Everything's just so hit and miss with, um, prices going up on everything else, and like, the fluctuation of prices that we, every month it's a different story. Yeah. So how can you buy for October when you have no frigging clue what October's gonna look like because it's not following a normal trend? No, you can't, we
Kristine:can't even guess. We can't guesstimate. No, there's no, no, there's no rhyme or reason for it, so I'd rather be
Carrie:able to like buy. As it comes. Yeah. Versus buying in advance.
Kristine:Yeah. Like last year we could have had like the worst month ever, but this year now it's like the best year ever. Yeah. Or vice versa. Like it doesn't make any sense. Whereas
Carrie:usually if you look historically at our previous six years, they all kind of had the exact same like up and down flow. Yeah. So it was so easy to. Not easy, but it was a lot easier to predict. Yeah, of course. Yeah. This year, nothing, no frigging clue what's gonna happen. No, it's like the
Kristine:wild, wild west. It's the wild, wild west. It really is. It's a lot of fingers crossed and, um, and pushing. Yeah. Hard and like every aspect. Mm-hmm. Because like, we gotta keep going and Yeah. We have, it's
Carrie:a lot of guesswork and we understand, we understand that, you know, everyone's budgets have changed their, like flexible budgets have changed. Yeah. You know, what you're gonna spend your extra money on has changed and we know that. So it's, it's a,
Kristine:and if you are spending your extra money on, at LB we wanna say that we are so grateful for your support. Grateful because we know and we understand how tough it's been. Yeah. Not just business wise, but like personally too. It's been a freaking roller coaster. Yeah. So like, if you are supporting us, Yes. Uh, with shopping or just supporting us by being, um, active on our social media, that is huge too. So good. So we just wanna thank you for being a part of the l l b fan'cause Yes. You don't have to be, and you choose to be. So thank
Carrie:you. No, it's so nice. It is nice. It is really good. So, you know, it's just, it is such an interesting, this has been an interesting business year. Yeah. Not bad. No. Just interesting. And I don't feel like, I mean, I know there's, you know, you hear about it from like, big businesses, but I feel like a lot of small businesses you don't, you just don't know what's happening. No. Because
Kristine:it's so, it's just different. Yeah. There's been a lot of different challenges this year. So many. Yeah. Not like, just like, like I said, not just businesswise, but like, personally. Mm-hmm. And like, there's just been, it's been ups and downs. Rollercoaster 2023. Right. Like it's, it's been something. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, it's okay. We, we push forward, we, uh, We get creative. We do. And we make it work. Yeah. That's the, one of our, my, one of my personal favorite things, and I know we've brought it up before, is we could be in a dark, dark hole. Mm-hmm. But Carrie and I will look at each other and like, we will get out of this. Yeah.'cause we make it work. We will figure it out every single time and, um, whatever it may be, we, we will look, literally look at each other and like, Hey, this is, this sucks this, but we'll get out of it is shitty, but we will get out of it. Yeah. Let's talk about it. Let's figure out what we need to do. Let's get creative and let's make it work. Carrie will do like her side of things with like budgeting and getting like creative and spreading things out. And I'll get creative on like, spreading the word. Mm-hmm. And getting creative in the, um, social media stuff or, um, The, the like selling the things and you know, trying to make a plan within that. Mm-hmm. And then we just like divide and conquer and then we bring it together and beautiful things
Carrie:happen. Yeah. And this year we've had, we've had a fair set of challenges. Charlotte
Kristine:Jones
Carrie:Challenge. Ys. Yes. And that's exactly what we did. We make a list and we're like, Hey, you're gonna do this? I'm gonna do this. Let's do it. Yeah. We got this. And like, we'll do our pity party for Oh yeah. You know, go get ice cream or Slurpees or sodas or whatever,
Kristine:or Yeah. McDonald's. Yeah.
Carrie:And then, you know, we'll allow ourselves that day or hours, however, depending on how big the challenge is. And then we're like, Kate, let's, let's face this. And like we'll get through it.'cause we always do. It's just a matter of figuring it out.
Kristine:Yeah. It's just a matter of how, and sometimes the thing that we did last time, we had a challenge. Maybe it won't work for this one. Yeah. So we have to, again, like I said, we have to get creative. Yeah. But we
Carrie:always do. Yeah. And we'll usually bring Sarah in and we'll just have like a little, like, shoot the shit session and talk about like, what the fuck are we going to do about this one? Yeah. And then we'll just move along. Yeah.
Kristine:Chug, chug, chug along. Yeah. We do always, every single time. And it's because we still, we still love it. We do. So we, we push. Yeah. And I think that's what you have to do with anything in life that you are passionate about. I agree. So there's that. But yeah, so we do, uh, a lot of, uh, shopping trips when we can. A lot of online shopping. We do do a lot of online shopping. Um, what else do we do? Um, we, a lot of lookbooks, a lot of Zoom calls. A lot of planning ahead. A lot of not planning ahead. A lot of not planning ahead. A lot of winging it. Um,
Carrie:yeah. Let's, that's one thing that Christine and I will never stop doing is winging it. And I know that that doesn't work for everybody, but we are just like, I feel like you and I perform so well under pressure. Under pressure. You and I just like, that's when we like really like head down, get shit done. Yeah. Is when we're like under the wire. Yes. And it's, we've tried in the past to be less wingers. Yes. And sometimes it doesn't work. Yeah.
Kristine:Press and most, like, I'm gonna be very clear here, like very. I don't know. Very clear that with like 99% of our like sales and stuff, I mean, minus our big daddies, they're just like, we kind of wing them. Mm-hmm. Like, and by kind of, I mean like, it's usually like 40 minutes before you guys see them online, we just discuss having a flash sale. Yeah. And like, it, it's not something that is predetermined. We'll like kind of look at the day, see how things are going, look at our monthly, see how things are going. Yeah. Um, did we perhaps over order this item or like, you know, what is it time just to get it gone kind of thing. And we're, we will be, um, we'll just, we'll wing it not flash sale for
Carrie:you guys. So like, or maybe our inventory manager is like, look, we need room in this section. We have a lot of X, Y, Z. Yeah. Can we, uh, get it moving? Yeah. And so we do and we do. It's not planned.
Kristine:Yeah. The big daddies are definitely more planned. Mm-hmm. Because there's more involved, like we have like our ads manager Yeah. For like Facebook, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. There's, there's a lot more involved. We have to get our staffing in order, et cetera. Make sure that they're prepared. Yes. Make sure the warehouse is actually organized for the sale and all that good stuff. Um, but otherwise pulling out of our books. Keisters. Oh, keister. Thank you. That's nice. Thank you. Very nice. Good word. Thanks. Yeah. Good. I
Carrie:like that. Yeah. We're pretty random. Yeah. And just, and that's how we like it. But
Kristine:that's, we're nots how we've always been. That's how we, yeah. It's kind of how we were born and not just in business. We were born this way. We were.
Carrie:I'm on the right track, baby. I was born this way.
Kristine:We also are very
Carrie:good singers. Come for a podcast, leave with a song.
Kristine:Yeah, so that's, that's what we do. Is there anything else about that?
Carrie:I don't think so, honestly. We did. Really? Yeah. We covered fall and fall fashion. This year is gonna be interesting. Yeah. What are you looking
Kristine:forward to?
Carrie:Well, I love that the traditional fall colors are still happening, like the olives, the burgundies, all of that. But there's bright colors this fall. Yes. Like that really brings me happiness because I love bright. Bright colors. Yes, same. And I just wanna be clear that bright pink is, uh, trending right now, but I have always loved bright pink, so I'm just saying Yeah. That I am a little bit of a ahead of the times. Yeah. Trendsetter. Yep. Yep. It's the same as animal print. Remember when we first started and we ordered an animal print piece and people's like wears animal print? I was like, well, I do, I love animal print. Yeah. And then it became a thing. Yeah. Trendsetter. Trendsetter, you know, ahead of my time, if you will. I'll carry for more tips. Yeah. A pioneer. Ooh, great word.
Kristine:Thank you. Or a pioneer. Yeah. You have a great
Carrie:Like I vocabulary like I always see on TikTok where people are like, oh, I'm in my a like my pink era. Like I've been in my pink era
Kristine:my whole life since 1986.
Carrie:Yeah. My life is a pink
Kristine:era. Yeah, it's true. Yeah. That's okay. And that's good. Yeah, it is. Yeah. I'm really excited for, um, like you mentioned, bright colors. I am all sorts of jacked for orange. Yes. Let's give it up for orange. Right. Let's give it up. She's coming back. Nope. Nope, nope.
Carrie:Fuck. Maybe one day we'll look. Oh, there we go. There she is for
Kristine:orange standing ovation. Yeah, orange is like a big color from the seventies, but I mean, as you guys know, seventies fashion is very much happening right now. So much so it's back. And orange is, is it's here to stay. It is. It's, we see it more than we see. Like black is obviously still a neutral, but we're seeing it more than black. Like it's, it's very much here. Big. Big. It's big and like it's bright orange and then there's like the rust orange, almost like pumpkin colors. Yes. Very, very popular. So big. Um, if you love orange, this is your time to shine, baby. And I love orange. Same. Yeah. It's a great color. I love it on my skin. Me too. Yeah. I've always been a big fan, so I'm really excited. It's really good
Carrie:on you. Thank you. Anytime. Yeah, it is. I'm, I do love. Part, like, not all of it, because, you know, but I do love that seventies, like fashion is coming back. Mm-hmm. And same with like the two thousands fashion, there's some of it that I'm like, oh, that's fun that it's coming back. And some of it I'm like, who the fuck decided this? Yeah. Like lowrise
Kristine:jeans people. Oh my God. So I texted you last night saying I was watching a show, I've never seen it before. It's called, um, it's always sunny in Philadelphia. Oh yeah. Yeah. Have you
Carrie:ever watched that? No, but I know what it is. I
Kristine:actually thought it was a show with Jennifer Aniston. Oh, okay. And I had to google it while I was watching it. I'm like, where's, where's, where's Ja at? Where's she at? She's not, she's not in the show at all. Okay. I had no idea. She's in another show that I just got confused with. Oh, okay. Regardless. Yeah. Um, so it was set in like 2004, so it's very like two thousands fashion. Yeah. And every guy had a flavor saver. Yeah. And the girls were wearing like shrugs, not cardigans, shrugs, shrugs. Yeah. And then like the. Tops, like the long sleeve tops that go over the tank top, but it's cropped. Mm-hmm. Kind of like the one that we had, but different. Yeah. More looser. Yeah. I don't know. It's weird. And then the lowest jeans, I just, I feel like your pee pee's gotta be showing my
Carrie:c-section scar would be out. That's,
Kristine:yeah, that's my concern. I've got my c-section scar's pretty high. Yours is really high. So like, she be out,
Carrie:I have a lot of other concerns. Yeah. Like what happens with my lower stomach region? Where does that go?
Kristine:Mine would be covering my zipper. Oh
Carrie:yeah. Like sitting down that, sitting on your ties. Yeah. Like, it's like,
Kristine:where does that go? Yeah. Where does my butt crack go? Did you I was, uh, shoot, I should have screenshot it and said it to you. the whale tail. Yeah. The thong. Yeah. It's coming back. That disturbs me. I don't.
Carrie:I didn't want, want, want that. Want. Don't. I don't want that
Kristine:either. I don't want that. I don't want my Nope, nope. No,
Carrie:no. And back in the two thousands, I had the flattest ass in the whole entire universe. So there was nothing to hold my low-rise pants up. Mm-hmm. And so my butt crack was always out. Mm-hmm. In my underwear. Yeah. Like that was just a thing. Yeah. Like, that's just something we accepted. Yeah. And we're accepting it. Again, again, again, you're again accepting that butt cracks are coming out.
Kristine:Whale tails and flavor saver soul patches, they're coming back. That's not, that's not acceptable to me. Everybody's gonna be walking around like, Mark
Carrie:McGrath, you know, and like I accept fashion and styles that are coming back that were cool the first time. Yeah. But like, did we, did we, I thought we learned from these mistakes. People, whale tail. Whale tails. I thought we learned from that. Like it's
Kristine:just, it's a little too disturbing.
Carrie:It's just like the lower back tattoos are coming back again. Yes. I saw that.
Kristine:I saw I've followed this girl that just got one
Carrie:recently. No, you guys, did you not learn anyone who I know who has one of those regrets it from the two thousands regrets it and now you're doing it again. Mm-hmm. No, we learn from our mistakes. We don't keep repeating them, we don't keep doing the same things.
Kristine:Yeah. Like the phrase is, learn from your mistakes. Yes. Why would we do it
Carrie:again? I have no idea. I'm not doing it again. I will not be, I will not be wearing low rise jeans.
Kristine:I will not be showing my whale tail. I'll not be showing. No, I mean, I
Carrie:don't like No, I was just gonna
Kristine:say wear those type of pantaloons. Yeah.
Carrie:At all.
Kristine:Ever. But like pantaloons, by the way, I don't want my butt crack out. No. That's my
Carrie:butt. And I don't know where my gut's gonna go. Where is that going to go?
Kristine:Yeah. And like who is this trend for now?
Carrie:The young kids with the
Kristine:flat stomachs. If we have any young kids listening, don't do it. Just
Carrie:hit, just don't, just listen. Stick with like the midrise or the I. I thought the high rise trend was quite great and the
Kristine:skinny eyebrows are
Carrie:coming back. I know. Okay, you guys. Another mistake that was made back in the day, similar to the lower back tattoos, these are things you can't take back. Yeah. And I don't know if you realize this, everyone who's listening is like, yeah, I know.'cause I'm old like you. But like when you over pluck your eyebrows for too long, they will never
Kristine:come back on Thursday. Tomorrow I will post a very nice photo of myself. Can't wait With the smallest eyebrows you have ever seen. But you're
Carrie:lucky because you didn't do that for very long. No. And so your eyebrows came back. They did come
Kristine:back, thank God. But like there are
Carrie:a lot of people out there Yeah. Who have no eyebrows left and now their, their life is skinny brows. Yeah. Like you can't fix,
Kristine:you can't take that back. No. That's a microblading situation after that. Yeah. Like that is a
Carrie:permanent situation. Yeah. That's rough. Learn from our mistakes that we made in our youth. People
Kristine:that like this.
Carrie:We are those people
Kristine:now we're old people. This is what we need to do. We actually need tomorrow, maybe let's make a reel or TikTok of things you shouldn't do. The trends that are coming back that you should skip. Yeah, like put the, put the tweezers down.
Stop
Carrie:over plucking
Kristine:because no, if you can see your pubic hair, your pants are too short. Like it's
Carrie:just, yeah. It's not good. It's not good. It's not good. I
Kristine:don't think we've ever said pubic hair before on the podcast. I'm really glad that was twice now.
Carrie:Uh, yeah. I just, I think that it's not the time. No.
Kristine:For. These trends. Let's bring the orange, bring the orange fashion. Let's skip.
Carrie:I'm even here for the return of flares, obviously. Hell yeah. I love the wide legged jeans. I love the, like, I love all of that. Yeah. I do not love things like low rise jeans, skinny eyebrows, and lower
Kristine:back tattoos. Yeah. Do you know what I did when I was younger that I regret? And I don't know why this was a trend too. Um, you're like, we used to wear like boy underwear. Mm-hmm. And have it poke outta
Carrie:your shorts. Yeah. I saw someone doing that the other day on the
Kristine:TikTok. I have family photos when we were in Disneyland for my very first trip and I was wearing my old gym shorts. I regret everything from junior high and um, or maybe it was high school, one of the two anyway, and my, I had power ranger. Boy briefs on, and you can see it in my photos from Disneyland with my family. I regret everything. Everything. Yeah. I now like, you just look like a bonehead.
Carrie:Yeah. Like don't, I also saw someone the other day with the, um, Playboy bunny. Stop it. Yeah. Yeah. No. And anyone who was from the two thousands know exactly. I didn't even have to finish and you guys know what I'm talking about. Yeah. Playboy bunny, um, tanning sticker. Like, were you even cool if you didn't have one?
Kristine:You know? Oh man. I was decked out in those. Yeah. I used to work at a tanning salon. I remember I was tanned. Yeah. I was very tanned. Yeah. Don't do that. That's so bad. Yeah.
Carrie:I used to go to there and I used to have the, I had the Playboy Bunny for a while and then I had the heart. Mm-hmm.
Kristine:Yeah, the heart. I had the heart too. And Stars and
Carrie:the, and the Tingle lotion. Oh yeah,
Kristine:the tingle lotion. Like that can't be good for you. No,
Carrie:no. And like if you still go to a tanning bed, like that's your decision, but like, I would never again. Mm-hmm.
Kristine:No. Like what did, I don't even know. Do they still really exist? Oh, I just hit my face on the microphone. Oh yeah. Fabi Tan, all that shit. It still exists. Oh yeah. Where?
Carrie:Oh, Arizona tanning, I think it's called.
Kristine:Oh, never heard of it. Um,
Carrie:Tanning some. Oh yeah. And you can, um, if you have a membership at like Planet Fitness, they, you can use their tanning beds. Oh, Arizona tanning. Oh, I had no idea. Fabu Tan.
Kristine:Oh wow. Oh
Carrie:yeah. Look at who knew? Arizona Tanning. Where you at? I think it's over by, um, um, the Home Depot. Here in she park. Yep. You know, there's like that whole strip mall with like average Joe's and stuff
Kristine:in it. Oh, I think I remember seeing Arizona. Something in there. Yeah, that's the
Carrie:town place. Oh yeah. Oh, who knew? I'm just a spray town girl now. Yeah. Yeah. That's cool. Yeah. Okay.
Kristine:Well, should we fuck marrying, kill some peeps? I don't have one. I have an idea for you, but I can't give it to you. No,
Carrie:no, I got this. Okay. I got
Kristine:this. Okay. Well, do you want me to, do you want me to like talk about. Pubic hair again. Kill some time. No, no, no. Yeah. You got this? No. Oh yeah. I'm good. Do you want me to talk? Do yours first? Yeah. So you have some time to think about it. Yeah. Okay. Um, fuck Mary, kill Carrie. I'm ready. Okay. This is your, uh, Canadian edition. Oh, I love Canadian editions. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So we're gonna Fuck Mary. Kill Drake. Drake, okay. Yeah. Matthew Perry. Okay. And Justin Bieber.
Carrie:Oh, it's kind of tough. That is kind of tough.
Kristine:And like, let me tell you the options were endless. Yeah. Oh yeah. Like we have a lot of Canadian studs. We do. We do. And a lot of Canadian duds. We
Carrie:do. Yeah. Yeah, we do. You're not wrong. It is really tough and I just, I just watched the podcast episode with Drake and, um, that gal from TikTok. Yeah.
Kristine:Alexandria, whatever. Yeah. Or Bobby. Yeah.
Carrie:And
Kristine:she is like, so she, for, I don't know if you followed her back when she had her Yeah. Forever. So she had her, um, alter ego Yeah. Alexandria or whatever it was. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, for so long I was so confused, but I love her, love her so much.
Carrie:She's funny. I just, I just watched it and I was really enjoying it. Yeah. Um, okay. I'm probably gonna kill Matthew Perry. Oh, I know,
Kristine:but like rrp, but no, I get it. That's fine. Like your options are like, these are tough,
Carrie:but Justin Bieber,
Kristine:I just love him so much. Yeah, I know, I know. Okay.
Carrie:I think I would fuck Drake and marry Justin Bieber. Yeah. And that's my final answer. And I locked in. Yeah. I no struggles there. Okay. Yeah.
Kristine:Okay. Well good. Good for you. Thank you. Congratulations. I just on your, uh, marriage to Justin Bieber. Thank
Carrie:you. I just, I really think that, I feel confident with that one asking for
Kristine:friend. Yes. Can we share husbands this time? Yes. Thank you. Yeah, thank you.
Carrie:Yeah, you can, you can. Thank you. You can dabble in that. Yeah. I mean, why not? It's Carrie, Carrie, Carrie Bieber. Yeah. That's so nice.
Kristine:Yeah. He's a nice ring to it. Yeah, he's my pick for sure.
Carrie:Good. Because like, He's a
Kristine:Yeah. I get it. Yeah. You don't have to explain it to me. You know what I mean? Yeah. Okay.
Carrie:Are you ready? Yep. I'm doing fuck Mary Kill accent edition. Okay, so these are men with accents? Yeah. Okay. So we have Jamie Dornan. So he played Christian Gray on 50 Shades. Oh yeah. Apparently he has an Irish accent. Oh, okay. And then we have Nile Horn. Oh shit. And then last but not least, we have Liam Hemsworth. Interesting. Yeah. Interesting. And when I say Jamie Dornan from 50 Shades, I'm talking like the third movie. Okay, thank you. You know,'cause like specifics here, well he gets
Kristine:a lot better by the third. So can we just call him Christian Gray?
Carrie:Yeah. Okay. Christian Gray. Christian Gray. And like it changes my answer. Okay. Let's make him Christian Gray. Okay. Okay. Liam Hemsworth. Nile Horran. Okay. Okay. We've got the, we've got a broad range of accents here. That really hard. That's really hard because Ja, Jamie is Irish. Has an Irish accent.
Kristine:Yeah. Okay. That's really tough. Yeah. But I think, Hmm. Okay. I think I'm gonna kill. Oof. Oof. Liam. I think, yeah. That's who I'd kill too. I'd marry Nile. Yeah. And then I feel like it's a no brainer over here.
Carrie:Yeah. You know, we're fucking Christian Gray. We have some,
Kristine:yeah, we have some exploring to do. I'm with you. He is the one to do it though. Oh yeah. You know. Yeah. Yeah.
Carrie:Okay. Yeah. Locked in. Oh hell yeah. Yeah. We're killing it. Hemsworth. Yeah. What if it was Chris Hemsworth? That's tougher. Would that have changed your answer a little bit? Yeah,
Kristine:probably. Yeah. I probably would've married him. Killed Nile. Okay. And then, uh, I just
Carrie:wanted to know where you were at with my husband,
Kristine:Chris. Well, I'll keep'em around for you and we can share husbands,'cause you have beeper and you would've had Chris. Chris. And then we'll
Carrie:share them. Oh, that was, you know, but.
Kristine:You know what? We'll
Carrie:even get, I'm okay with Nile. We'll even live in
Kristine:the same house. We'll share them. Yeah. And then Christian Gray can come over. Yeah. And hang out with us. Yeah. With Drake. I love Drake. And we will just share until we cannot
Carrie:pass them around. Hey. Okay. What a time.
Kristine:That was good. I like how fucking sideways that was. Right? I love how
Carrie:I picked accent edition. Yeah, me too. And I pulled that outta my ass. Yeah. Like I pulled that outta my ass, just so everybody knows. Good. It was a good pull.
Kristine:Thank you. Well that's it folks. That's it. That's all. Thanks for hanging out with us. Thank you so much. Next week's episode. God Mystery. G B D, we don't know. No, we haven't planned it out in a little while. No, no. We just keep winging it. But that's on brand. On brand, on brand baby. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But we are gonna plan out the next few ones because we wanna get a couple guests or something. Here we go. In the next little while. Yeah. We are gonna be also know. Okay. Maybe it'll be, uh, Drake. He's like, who are these idiots
Carrie:that, did you watch that? Did you watch there? Yeah. Oh my God. I loved every second of
Kristine:it. Yeah. Yeah. They're funny. Yeah. I just, I, she kills me because she can be so serious and like, you know, straight face and
Carrie:not laugh at all. And not laugh. And he's like, you don't know any of my songs. She's like, No. Maybe. Maybe if I heard one, but like No, no. And I'd be like Dying.
Kristine:Dying. Yeah. Yeah. She kills me. They also had a lot of like
Carrie:chemistry. Yeah, they did. They did a good job. I really felt that. Like I felt like some chemistry.
Kristine:I like that they were laying, laying in a bed. Me too. I wanna lay in bed with Drake. Me too. How
Carrie:do I get this? Well, you gotta fuck Mary. Kill him. Well, maybe he will. Maybe he will come on our podcast one day.
Kristine:Maybe one day. If anybody has any Drake Pull. Could you fucking imagine? Seriously. That'd be so funny, right? I don't know what the fuck we would talk about. She winked at me. I could talk about Um, card collecting. Card collecting. Yeah.'cause he's a big collector. Yeah. And Jace collects some. Okay. Not to his caliber of collecting.'cause we are. We are not rich. Yeah. So that's, I could, we could also talk to him about Canadian facts. Yeah. Yeah. We could
Carrie:talk to him about Canadian facts. Yeah.
Kristine:We could talk about Tim Hortons. Okay. And how their bagels smell like fart.
Carrie:They do stink. We can talk about Degrassi.
Kristine:We could Oh yeah.
Carrie:Yep.
Kristine:Yeah. Ask him how he got Drake out of Aubrey Graham. Right. Like, where did this come from? Yeah. Aubrey Graham. Aubrey. Aubrey. Like, how did that happen? I have so many questions. Aubrey, does he like maple syrup? Does he not like maple syrup? I like how we're just fucking rambling now we are. Oh,
Carrie:Drake's his middle name. That's what I thought it is. It is Drake. Yeah, that's what I
Kristine:thought. Aubrey Drake
Carrie:Graham. Yep. I thought that's what he said on, um, I thought it was at
Kristine:that podcast mix of his, uh, I thought he did something with his mom's name or something in it, or, His
Carrie:born name is Aubrey Drake. Graham. Oh, good
Kristine:for him. Okay,
Carrie:fine. He can have it. He's born in 1986, just like me. Oh,
Kristine:twins.
Carrie:Champagne. Pappy.
Kristine:This is funny. See, we gotta get
Carrie:cool names like that. I'm, I'm competing him right now. Okay. I like that we're talking about Drake. Okay, we gotta go Drake Facts. You guys have a good rest of your day and we will see you next week. Yeah.
