Hey, it's Christine and Carrie and we're best
Carrie:friends and we are the owners of Lavender and Lace Boutique, uh, online, women's clothing, boutique based outta Shore Park, Alberta.
Kristine:And we have a podcast baby.
Carrie:Yeah. We started this just'cause we like to hear ourselves talk, I think. Absolutely. A
Kristine:hundred percent. Yeah. Welcome to Two Babes Podcast. Where crazy things happen. We don't, we don't know what we're doing half the time. No, and that's okay. It is okay. I feel like that's
Carrie:relatable. Yeah. Yeah. It's on brand.
Kristine:It's on brand, honestly. Like I think it's a successful day when I put pants on. Yeah. You know? Yeah. Like that's, I don't have
Carrie:pants on today. No,
Kristine:you don't. Um, but you have shoes on and clothing. Yeah. Well
Carrie:we have like your bum bum's not out. We have store wait job interviews today, so I like I put on
Kristine:fucking leggings. I'll, I'll find a blazer. I put on a blazer the other day and it stunk like it was just like your office, office blazer gross. Yeah, it's stinky. Like don't come too close. Yeah. Whatever. Yeah. Anyway. How the hell was your weekend, Carrie? Oh, it was so
Carrie:good. I went to Mc Valley Jamboree. Woo. Yeah, yeehaw. I like how I said jamboree at the end, like as if people didn't know what I was talking about. Um, if you're not local to Alberta or maybe you just don't know things, um, I was gonna say live under a rock, but I didn't wanna be an asshole and then I said it anyways. Um, big Valley is a country music festival. It is the entire August long weekend and, My, my future husband was there, so I had to go. Um, originally I didn't plan on going. I'm not a huge, you've probably heard me say this, I had so many Instagram messages about it. I am not a huge music festival fan. I don't, I'm, it's just not my jam. I used to do Big Valley when I was younger. It's i's just not my thing anymore. Um, but I wanted to see him again so bad. And then I told Nick last weekend, like the weekend prior, I'm like, I wanna go see him so bad. Yeah. And I'm like, I wanna go to Big Valley. And friends of ours had extra tickets and they asked Nick if he wanted. If he wanted them.'cause they knew that I wanted to go and they wanted me to come. And, uh, he said yes and he arranged the whole thing. And then we went, it was so good. It was so good. I'm so happy. So we saw Bailey Zimmerman, chase Rice, and um, Morgan Wallen while we were there. Um, we just spent the whole day Saturday there and then stayed the night and went home Sunday morning. And by home, I mean we went back to S Lake. Yeah. So my parents have a place there and um, that's where they were for the weekends. We dropped Brooke off there with them for Saturday, which like, it's not like it was on the way. Yeah. Like at all. But we dropped her off there and then we headed to Big Valley and then we went back there on Sunday and we just decided to stay the rest of the weekend, which is so nice.
Kristine:Yeah. So why come home when you don't have to? Right. In my
Carrie:professional day and, um, For anyone who doesn't know, which is probably most of you. Christina and I like Syl. We grew up in Sylvan. It is, it is our childhood.
Kristine:It's like my happy place. Yeah. If it's not, I haven't been there in years. Um, but if it's not Disneyland or Vegas or Maui, it's Sylvan for me. Yeah. Like that place just holds my heart.
Carrie:Yeah, me too. And'cause my parents have had a place there for probably since I was like eight or nine. They got it. And so for summers, my mom would bring me and my friends out Yeah. For the summer. And we'd go for like a week or two at a time. Yeah. My dad would come out on the weekends'cause he'd work during the week and we just. Get into all kinds of trouble. So much trouble.
Kristine:Like we would go, there was a skate park. I don't even know the skate park's still around. No, it's gone. That's too bad. Mm-hmm. Because that's like, that's what shaped me. Yeah. Uh, wait, the skate park was amazing. The Dollar Store? Yes.
Carrie:Was like, which is also gone. We spent all of our money there and we would just walk around. Yeah. And it was such a janky ass dollar store. Yeah. Like it was the shittiest. If anyone's been to Sylvan and you remember the Dollar store on the corner? It was the shittiest store. Yeah. Like it, like the back of it. Do you remember the back? It's just like all this random crap.
Kristine:Yeah. But don't worry, we bought it. Oh yeah, we
Carrie:bought that crap. Oh, I loved how crappy it was. But when you think back on how crappy it was, you're like, whoa. Yeah, we shopped there. Yeah, we did. But I love it. Yeah. And uh, Yeah, we used to go to the the Moo. Yes.
Kristine:For ice cream. Go get some ice cream when I could. Maybe I probably couldn't even tolerate it then. No either. I was probably
Carrie:pretty sick too. But yeah, we used to go to the movie store, get movies and
Kristine:you know what, one was one of my favorite places of all time Where the library? Yes. And the library. Cafe. Yes. We would go, bagels, go for our, the best bagels. Yeah. We would go for hours'cause there
Carrie:was computers. Yeah. And
Kristine:we go have one and we would go to M S N and chat and yeah. And uh, who the fuck knows what we did on the internet back then?
Carrie:I don't know. We were just like, we were just spend so much time there. So
Kristine:much time. Go. We read a lot of books. Yeah. Oh yeah. And uh,
Carrie:I had the blue library bag. Yeah. I think I still have it.
Kristine:Think my mom gave to me last more was at the last time I was at the cabin or cabin, the condo. It was
Carrie:there. Yeah. I think my mom gave it to me. Okay. I think it's at my house. It's such a good one. It was navy blue with yellow. Yes. Riding on it or like goldish riding on it. Yeah.
Kristine:It was so much fun. Something Lake Library. And we would go to the cafe and we'd sit there in the bowling alley. Yeah, bowling alley was fun too. We did go
Carrie:bowling a lot. Yeah. I forgot about the bowling alley. It's still there. I think so. And then we'd go Dairy Queen sometimes.
Kristine:Yeah. And what's that pizza joint? Right across from the, yeah, I can't remember what, what it's called obo. Was it Obos or something? O obs. Ob.
Carrie:Obs. Obs. O obs Pizza We, Ugh.'cause I spent a lot of time in Sylvan Lake. Yeah. Even in my young adult days. I actually lived in Sylvan Lake for an entire summer. My boyfriend and I moved out there. Um, Stayed in one of my parents' places and we would, all of our friends would come out on the weekend. And I cannot tell you how many times I went Toby's like, yeah, like drunk lately. Oh yeah.
Kristine:Eating. Yeah, that's what I remember. Yeah. Is when we were older and we would go walk there. Yeah. I ran there once to go get
Carrie:pizza. Yeah.'cause they weren't, they didn't come and it was so long or something. Yeah. And so I like ran you dreamted.
Kristine:Yeah. In flip flops probably. Yeah. So stupid. So dumb. But whatever. That's fine. Yeah.
Carrie:That was fun. Well maybe that's where I'll go for my walk this weekend. Just going that way. I didn't wanna go, I didn't wanna go down like short drive'cause it was a long weekend and it was so busy. So I just kind of imagine walked past our old hoods, say hi to it for me. I'll, yeah. So we're super excited. We're going back again this weekend.
Kristine:Do you remember the Chinchilla Man? I do.
Carrie:I thought about him this weekend because I walked by there obviously. And like they tore down or they made everyone move there. Um. Like mobile homes off there. Yeah. And'cause they were gonna develop it and they never developed it, so it's still empty. Oh, that's interesting. And like all those people lived there. Yeah. So
Kristine:it was such a nice, it was nice in there too. Yeah. Like it wasn't uh, yeah, no, it was really nice. It was such a nice neighborhood. Yeah. And then they just took it down
Carrie:for nothing. Yeah. They were gonna build condos and then they just didn't and now it's still sitting there for sale. That's
Kristine:crazy. Yeah. That's too bad. Yeah. So the Chinchilla man, um, is a, a man who lived there and he had how many chinchillas? I don't know. And
Carrie:they were always for sale. Yeah. And he, and he'd walk around with them on his shoulder all
Kristine:over him. And he was, I he was very nice guy. We'd say hello. Yeah. And he would say hi. And then he'd have chinchillas and it was so weird. Like, I don't remember. Yeah. I think he was, he was a nice guy. From what I can remember, I guess. I don't really remember that. Well, I don't, don't we talk to him? I think it was like a hello wave and we'd wave'cause we think it's funny'cause he had chin chills all over him. Yeah. But yeah, he was nice. Like he was nice enough to say hello.
Carrie:Yeah. Yeah. And then, uh, that was, so that was my whole weekend, honestly. That's nice. I didn't do much'cause Friday I had to really just like get ready to go. Yeah. Um, yeah.
Kristine:Nice. That's about it. That's good. Very nice
Carrie:weekend. It was good. I didn't do any reading or anything of the sort. I took my book with me to B B J. Well I took it with me for like the weekend'cause I thought maybe I'd read it in the car or something. Right. Yeah, no, didn't do any of that. I just, no though I'm not reading anything right now. I'm not really watching it. I don't even know what I do with my free time, to be honest with you.'cause I'm not watching anything or reading anything. Yeah. So like, I don't know if I just like lay there, you lump up or what, but it's my favorite reference. Haven't I haven't been doing anything lately. It's, that's
Kristine:okay because it is. Fucking crazy around
Carrie:here. It is crazy around here. So to
Kristine:have just the verity lifestyle is totally
Carrie:okay right now. Yeah. And well, I haven't been doing my walks in the morning. I've been doing them after work. So by the time that's done, like you're done. It's fricking bedtime. Yes, dude. Yes. It's, I feel like I have no time at home. I don't know this, this last three weeks has just been chaos.
Kristine:It's, everything has been upside down and I mean, literally upside down. Yeah.'cause same thing for me. I haven't been running in the morning. It's been more of the evenings and I don't love it. I hate it.
Carrie:No. And it's not that I don't like the act of doing it at night. I do. But it eats up my entire evening. Yeah. And then, It's over
Kristine:exactly where in the morning, as soon as it's done, it's done. And you have your whole day ahead of you. Yes. And you have option to do something else in the evening. Mm-hmm. Now like I go for a run and it usually takes about an hour, hour and a half and my whole evening is just shot. Yeah. And then you don't have to dive, do your reading. You don't have time to watch your tv. You
Carrie:No, you're done. Even when I do go for my walks, like I don't, I haven't been listening to my audio books'cause my brain just like is not there enough. It needs a break. And you know, we talked about this in episode three and I think it's really important to note, we talked about how Christina and I love getting up at five 30 and how important it was to us. Sometimes it just doesn't work. Yep. And you need to accept it. Yep. And right now where I'm at in life and at work, I just don't have that extra oomph to get up at five 30. Yeah. It's just, I think I would burn myself out. Absolutely. And there is that like acknowledgement that you can't. Always make that work. Yeah. Because I, I can't, it's work is crazy. Work is nuts Right now. We're, we just have had a lot of changes over the last month and they keep on coming and it's just been a lot. Mm-hmm. And that is, you know, I, we talked about like how different seasons of your life, there's different priorities. Right now work is just, it's very consuming. Yes. And so something else has gotta give and it's sleep. Yes.
Kristine:I agree. It's, it's a such as life sort of thing right now we just have to make do with what we have and things have had to, to budge basically. Yeah. And unfortunately that's our waking up at early. And I also like, I also feel it mm-hmm. As well. Like, I don't have it in me to wake up at mm-hmm. Five o'clock in the morning'cause I'm just fucking tired. Yeah, me too. I'm mentally exhausted. I'm physically exhausted and like, Yes. I still, we both still have like our goals and we're still achieving them. Yeah. However, it's just taking a little bit more of a backseat because we have to make sure we are doing that balance. Mm-hmm. And right now our focus is on work and mm-hmm. No
Carrie:play. And I just don't wanna burn out. No. Don't, you know, like, I don't wanna end up there
Kristine:because then we won't want to do these things. Right. Right now we're making it work. Mm-hmm. A little bit different. Mm-hmm. I'm still able to run. You're still doing your walks, you're still working on, you're still doing your thing. Mm-hmm. But you're not killing yourself either at it. No. And if we push it, especially in the season that we are right now, of our ridiculous work situation we have going on, it's just no, we're gonna be done and we're, and then those things are gonna be off the table completely.
Carrie:Yeah. I don't wanna just hate them.
Kristine:No, I don't wanna hate them either. I still wanna love.
Carrie:What I do, and I don't wanna give myself like a panic attack. Oh, fuck those. I, yeah. You know,'cause I woke up this morning and I'm like, I did not feel right. I texted you. I was like, my anxiety is really high today. And it's been so long since I've woken up with anxiety that I was like, so I knew. Mm-hmm. Like, I just know, I know. Know your limitations. I'm sorry. Ugh.
Kristine:Just like they sick fucking
Carrie:suck. Yeah. And, and it is what it is.
Kristine:Do you do anything, um, extra special for yourself when you wake up feeling like that? I,
Carrie:I went and laid in the bath for like an hour. Oh, that's good. Yeah. That's good. Like barity. But I didn't let myself drown. Yeah. I was just, I just laid there and I just like I, that's good. I'm glad you had
Kristine:an extra moment
Carrie:for yourself. I had gone and I was just sitting there and I did nothing and Nick was leaving to go meet with you guys at your house and he's like, are you leaving for work soon? I'm like, do I look like I'm leaving for work soon? Yeah. Does that, does it look like it? Yeah. No, I just sat there and I just chilled and like, Relax.
Kristine:That's good. It took my time, my, my specialty when I'm having a, a moment mm-hmm. Or three. I like to go driving, um, and cry. Yeah. I usually cry when I drive. Yeah. And just go in places that I haven't seen before. Yeah. And that usually like, kind of brings me out of it. Yeah. Because I'm in a, a new area. I get to see different things and it just kind of brings me down. Yeah. That's fair. It's a weird thing that I do. That's fair. And I usually like to do it at night in the dark. I like that. Yeah. It, but the dark changes things for me. Yeah. It changes my perspective and I just, it helps.
Carrie:Yeah. See, crying doesn't help when I have anxiety. Yeah. Okay. Like crying doesn't help me. It gets me out for me. Yeah. That's fair out. No crying doesn't help me. Fair enough. Do it. Like, just like who sawing myself. Trying to like calm down. Yeah. Is usually, what's it?'cause then I just work
Kristine:myself up more. Yeah. Fair enough. I usually have to get that out. Yeah. That's fair. And then I'm okay. Yeah. That's fair. What we should punch things. Oh. Love that. We should get one of those fucking dudes. The fucking dudes. Not just like, you know those standing things. Yeah. The fucking dudes. Yeah. We should get one. Yeah. You know what I mean? And the ones you punch or kick. Yeah. We should get them. Yeah. I'd love that. We could name them. We can give them names we don't like. Yeah. Like of people we hate. Yeah. You know, and we could just fuck them up. I'll get you boxing gloves, glitter ones. Yeah.
Carrie:Sorry. I was just thinking about naming mine.
Kristine:I feel like I could potentially know who you're referring to. Yeah. Yeah. Unless you're naming it. Me?
Carrie:No. Okay. If I wanted to punch you, I'd just punch you.
Kristine:Fair enough. I was actually thinking, um, the other day, and by the other day, I mean yesterday, uh, we should actually record us doing our arm wrestle.'cause I think that'd be really funny. It will be
Carrie:get like, just let's do like mid-September, uh, mid-September. Yeah. Arm myself. We'll do arm. Yeah. Yeah. I need to get back to the gym. Fair enough. You know, like I still got my guns here. Yeah, dude. I, but like, I'm getting a little floppy lately. I know. So I just, I know. Pretty floppy. Yeah. I have weak
Kristine:bones. Yeah. So like, you could just snap me in half. There's no helping me. Okay. So my weekend, we, but yeah, I didn't do much. I worked a little bit Friday. Um, I had, I think I did a couple running around things. Um, s Scarlet had a couple girlfriends over for a water balloon fight. That was fun. They fucking pummeled me. I didn't think I was gonna be involved and then I got destroyed. Uh, so that was love that, that was nice. Um, and then, uh, I ran good as I do on the weekends. Yeah. And, uh, I don't, I honestly don't think I did much. I think I did more worky things. Mm-hmm. And, uh, that's
Carrie:about it. Honestly. That's nice. For a long weekend it
Kristine:really was nice. Like I enjoyed just a slow pace. I had my mom over for brunch, um, and uh, that was nice. Yeah, that is nice. Took her for a walk. Showed her the new house, not like, showed her the outside of the house.'cause it's a construction zone obviously. Come on. I followed the rules and then, uh, yeah. So showed her the house. She thought it was pretty cool. That's about it. I didn't do nothing. It was nice. It was good. Yeah. I didn't even really need to tell you guys about it
Carrie:cause it was just, honestly, honestly, when we stayed at the lake, which I was so thankful we stayed the night because my aunt and uncle were actually out there and yeah. That's nice. Brooke has not seen my uncle in three years. What? Yeah. Wild hay. Three years, three years. Since Brooks saw my uncle last. No. Yeah.
Kristine:Two. Wasn't he at Christmas last year?
Carrie:Two years. Two years? Wow. It's been a long time. Well, I'm so glad
Kristine:that she was able to see them then. Yeah. Good, good. Okay. Yeah,
Carrie:so it was good. Um,
Kristine:blew me away either. Yeah. I just be, I feel like I've seen him recently now, like
Carrie:I haven't seen him in a long time, but I guess,
Kristine:I guess it's been
Carrie:probably, I've seen my aunt a lot. Yeah. But, uh, yeah, so we got to hang out with them and visit. That's nice. And then, um, my aunt's probably listening'cause she loves the podcast. She thinks it's freaking funny. Sup She was, she was like, she was like 99.9% of the time. I agree with your fuck Mary Kill. Oh yeah. Good. I'm, I'm so glad we're on the same. Her and I are in the same way of length. I get a lot
Kristine:of, uh, are you, are you serious? Yeah. You, you'd fuck him. I'd be
Carrie:like, yeah. Yeah, I would.
Kristine:Yeah. Sometimes my choices are limited.
Carrie:I do do that sometimes. Yes.
Kristine:Did you even plan one
Carrie:outboard today? No. Yeah. I'm gonna have to wing it as we go. Yeah. Um, our life has been crazy. Okay. So yeah, that's a little nutty. That's pretty much what's been happening also. Um, did you see the news about Maui? Yes. Isn't it devastating? Um, I,
Kristine:we were slightly discussing it this morning at our meeting um, at a house meeting, whatever. And, uh, we were discussing it and I actually was so sick to my stomach so bad that I to take a,
Carrie:I had to take a pause. Oh no. I was just, it's
Kristine:sad. We just, we know I'm gonna cry. It was like, we know so many people out there mm-hmm. Um, that we've become friends with. It's like our h it's our home. Mm-hmm. Out there and like, we can't do
Carrie:anything. Yeah. It's awful. It's just very sad. It's really sad. Uh, so I
Kristine:texted Ruby this morning and checked in. She hasn't wrote me back.
Carrie:Um, yeah, they're probably scrambling.
Kristine:They're scrambling. Um, but it's just, and a couple of my. Like Maui mom groups and stuff that I've been in or I'm in. Um, just the comments and stuff is just devastating. Mm-hmm. So, yes, that's happening and it's, I'm so sad. I'm like actually legitimately crying. I see that it's just, yeah. It's, it's a lot of emotions.
Carrie:Yeah. It's really sad. Um, for anyone who doesn't know or hasn't been following, um, they have a lot of fires there right now and they're dealing with some like tropical storms that are making the winds just obscene, so they're not able to keep it up. The fire is really, really close to my parents' house. Yeah. Which is really sad. Um, and there is like a historical town in Maui, it's called Laina. It's like gone. Yeah. Which is so sad. So, Just, we're just keeping them in our thoughts and prayers because that is like, it is my second home. I've been going there since I was a baby, since I was 18 months old, was my first trip there and I pretty much grew up there and I have so many memories there. So it's just really sad. So very sad. Yeah. So we've been following that. So keep, keep Maui in your thoughts because I know there's a lot of places that are on fire here too, but they're also dealing with their own thing there. And it's an island, like you have nowhere
Kristine:to go. You have nowhere to go. That's what terrifies me is there's nowhere no to go and people are like flooding to the airports. Um, uh, from what I heard last, they haven't shut air flights down yet coming in, but that might have changed since I last looked. Yeah. Um, so it's just. It's just a lot of happening. Yeah. People are trying to get out, but then people are like, oh, let's go on our holidays. And like, it's just, it's crazy. An insane concept to me.
Carrie:Crazy. I luckily, like August isn't their highest peak season for travel. Yeah. So I'm hoping people aren't stupid enough to keep flying there, but who knows? And to
Kristine:reconsider because there's mm-hmm. They, people have lost their homes. Thousands
Carrie:of, yeah. They need places to stay. It's like when we almost went to Kelowna two or th three summers ago now. Two summers ago. That's right. Um, there was a lot of fires in the area and we opted not to go because we didn't wanna take two hotel rooms where people could like evacuate to use. Yes, exactly. And it, so hopefully, yeah. Hopefully that,
Kristine:yeah. Things start to calm down and mm-hmm. The winds slow down. Mm-hmm. It
Carrie:gets better out there. I hope so. Yeah. Okay. Well on that really exciting note. Really, you know. Yeah.
Kristine:Really. So, um, we're now diving into our, episode. So our episode topic really, um, we've had tons of questions, basically since the start of L l b or like since we're more active on social media. Yep. Um, we've had questions about like what skincare we use, um, what works, what doesn't. Yep. Um, what sunscreen we use. How do you do your eyebrows, what mascara you use. Do you have falsies? Uh, like,
Carrie:yeah. So many questions. They just, people
Kristine:want the details. So we have individually have done stories in the past on our Instagram, but we still get these questions. We, so we're, so we do happy to do an episode on it just to kind of go over what we use. Yes. And uh, And I'm sure we'll have to do this again down the road.'cause I,
Carrie:things change and I was just gonna say, if we don't have enough time to move past skincare to like cosmetics, yes. We'll do another episode for you guys. A hundred percent. Because we've already been talking for a really long time and we have a lot on the go today. Yeah. Um, I first wanna start with saying please note one, we're not medical estheticians, we are not professionals. We're just talking about what works for us. Um, I'll talk about what my skin is like because it's not a one size fits all. That's situation. Christina and I have completely different regimes. Yep. Because we have like polar opposite skin, complete opposite, complete opposite.
Kristine:What would happen if our skins made a baby? Do you think it'd be like normal, perfect skin? Normal? That would be so cool. Yeah. Wow. Meld them together, right? Make a skin suit. Yeah. We've been talking about skin suits. A this so,
Carrie:so funny. And it's funny'cause Um, so I watched an episode of Charmed last week where they made this sky out of a skin suit and then they brought him to life. I remember this episode. Yeah, I remember that. Sos funny that we have been talking about skin suits lately. Um, so I'll just say what kind of skin I have. So I have, um, like, I'd call it, I wanna say my skin's fairly normal, a little bit of like combination. So sometimes I do go through oilier phases. Sometimes I do go through dry phases, especially in the winter. But I'd say it's fairly normal. Yeah. Like I'm kind of just like, I'm just like in the middle there. Um, I do deal with quite a bit of dryness in the winter, like I said, so I do have to accommodate that. And I do switch up my skincare routine in the winter. I use a lot of heavier products. Um, but overall I don't deal with a lot of, like oil. I, I go for like, stuff that makes me glowy and bright, whereas like the complete polar opposite of Christine, which she'll, she'll talk about in a second. Yeah. So that's my skin. Um, yeah. That's pretty
Kristine:much it. Yeah. Do we, do you wanna do like your whole skin stuff and then, or do you wanna like bounce back and forth, like I tell you? Yeah. Bounce back and forth. Keep mix it up. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, uh, for myself, I have very oily skin, acne prone skin. I've, dealt with, cystic acne for since, yeah, since. Puberty basically. I've gone through big bad episodes, um, where like they're so bad that just washing my face made me like cry. so I've gone through a lot of things to try to help with my skin. Um, I did have to go to the a, Accutane route, um, through just about two and a half times. I didn't finish the last one, but two and a half times and it finally stopped. Um, so now I'm in a good place. So, which brings me to this, my. For our skincare conversation. You guys will hear more about that acne as I go. so my, my skin is oily, um, so I have to, I basically go for more of the mattifying mm-hmm. Products. Mm-hmm. And looks, because I produce so much oil, I have to really try to tone it down so it doesn't look like, or, so my makeup doesn't slide down my face. Mm-hmm. Because it has, and it does, especially in the summer, and
Carrie:especially like right by your nose, Hey. Yes. Like, that's your worst. Yeah. Like, like your cheeks almost.
Kristine:in the summer, I've been having a hard time wearing my, my glasses. I'm wearing them today, but I hate where mm-hmm. Like the oil builds up underneath my glasses, so it just makes everything slide. Yeah. And it looks ridiculous. Yeah. So I, I have to be really conscious of that. And I've been leaning towards my contacts more so lately. Yeah. Yeah. So that's, um, that's my skin. Skin I guess. Um, I do get some dry spots in the winter, but more so it's just sweaty, oily. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I'm also a very sweaty person, and that is something that I also have to think about with makeup. Yeah. Because my face literally sweats Right. Every day, all day. Yeah. So I have to be, I have to be very conscious of that. Mm-hmm. As well. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Okay. Wild times. It is. So we were
Carrie:like, yeah, we're complete opposite polar opposites. Yeah. Um, I will preface this by saying,'cause I do get a lot of compliments on my skin, which is so sweet. And thank you guys. Um, I spent my twenties treating my skin like shit. Yeah. Oh yeah. Don't
Kristine:we all,
Carrie:if I knew in my twenties when I know now, things would've been a lot different. I didn't wash my, and which is crazy because my mom Yeah. Has such phenomenal skin and she's always preached to me to wash my face every night. And I went through my twenties, like sleeping in my makeup. Oh yeah. Putting makeup over top of my makeup. Like I wouldn't even wash it off in the morning. I would just put it back on top. Yeah. Yes. Oh my God. I know. All the time. All the time. And like, we'd go to the bar like cake, our faces in makeup. Yeah. Dream Matt Moose, if you remember. Yes. And
Kristine:man, that's on, on like the. Squishy, you know, to put the makeup on and like, oh, that was so satisfying.
Carrie:It was so satisfying. Um, so you'd cake yourself with makeup? Yeah. Sweat all night. Yeah. And then you'd sleep in it, and then you'd wake up the next morning and maybe you'd wash it off? Yeah, maybe. So gross.
Kristine:Like if you made it home, right? Like, who knows where you ended up. Oh,
Carrie:the worst. And I can't, I just looking back on it, I'm like, oh my God, why did I do that to my skin? Luckily it has not affected me too much. And because in my thirties I definitely took control of my skin. Um, so I've tried a lot of different things. I've tried a lot of different products. I've gone through a, like so many cycles. Yeah, totally. Of different things. And what I've currently been doing for the past, like six to eight months, is it's kind of a schmo. Yeah. I don't, I don't just use one brand. Um, and I don't just use like, I don't just use like medical grade skincare and. I, I use a whole, a whole mix through. Yeah. Mixer mix mixed through if you'll, yeah. So I do actually follow the Korean skincare routine. Yeah. I fell in love with Korean skincare like eight or nine months ago. Um, honestly, from just like word of mouth and also TikTok, I've seen a lot of people like use the products and I didn't really know a ton about it until I started researching it. So Korean skincare follows like a seven step method and I started using it. And I swear to you, it has made my skin like night and day different. Like I, when I stopped doing it, like if I have days off from it, I like, you notice it instantly. Wow. And it took, it took probably like three or four months to actually like, get in. Where I saw like the full results, but Wow, you guys, so first I do an oil cleanse. Yeah. Which seems crazy that you wash your face with oil. But yeah, it, so what an oil cleanse does is it breaks down everything on your face, whether you have makeup on or not. You should still be doing it'cause it'll break down all the like dirt and oil. So that takes it off instead of pushing it into your skin. Then second you do a foaming cleanse or like a water-based cleanse. I don't use a foaming cleanser'cause it dries my face out. I use a, like a cream-based if it cream, yeah, yeah. Cleanser. And then you use a toner. I actually use more than one toner. I use a couple, um, to get all the impurities off your face that maybe your cleanser missed. And then I do my serums. Um, so then I still use the normal like niacinamide, hy hyaluronic acid, um, yeah. And vitamin C in the morning. And then I, um, Do at night. I'll do my retinol, not vitamin C at night, and then I'll do like my eye creams and then I'll put my lotion on. So like, that's my seven steps. Yeah, I, it does sound like a lot, and I know a lot of people are like, oh, I'm more of a less is more skincare kind of gal. And honestly I used to be too, but I find this routine has just like, made my skin so much more like mm-hmm. Supple. Yeah. Like so much more youthful. It is very supple, I feel like. Thank you. I, I don't wear makeup. Right? Like, I don't have makeup on right now. Yeah. That's so good. Like, I just have blush on Yeah. And eyelashes.
Kristine:That's so nice. Like, I, I love doing
Carrie:that. So, yeah. And I mean, I'm, I'm 37 so I still need to put concealer under my eyes. Gotta cover them sins, you know? I do know there's no getting away from that. Like no.'cause eye cream isn't, The end all be all. No, it
Kristine:as much as we try it's, but it's
Carrie:not, it's, I'm gonna give it like a, like a seven 75% gimmick, 25% functional. I agree with that.
Kristine:Yeah. But I still use it. I agree. I still use it every day. I was gonna say it like a three outta 10 on the mm-hmm. On the scale. And that's exactly it. Like it doesn't, no, it definitely helps, but it doesn't take'em away. No. So there's other things you gotta
Carrie:do. Yeah. So I use like a caffeine one. Yeah. Because it kind of like plumps you a little bit. Yeah, same. It gives you less like Yeah. Sunken. Sunken. And then I use a retinol one at night. Yeah. To try to, um, so if we wanna talk about specific products, um, do you want me to dive into that right now? Dive in baby. Okay. So I use a, a schoz, if you will. Yeah. Um, because that's just the way I be.
Kristine:Same here. Mine's so schmoozey.
Carrie:Yeah. And I do love medical grade products, but they're expensive. I don't think they're a must. But I do have some things that I think are, like, if you're gonna spend money on medical grade stuff, there is some that you should, um, so I'm going to tell you my oil cleanser right now So I use the colee makeup, removing oil cleanser, um, coly if you will. So it's the makeup removing cleansing oil. That is what I use first to take my makeup off. Mm-hmm. And then I use just the plain old cera V Yeah. Hydrating cleanser second. Yeah. And then I use a. Makeup eraser to take that off, get
Kristine:that off face. I'm like, following. You are like, I am in it. You're
Carrie:intent In my makeup routine, in my sleep routine,
Kristine:my eyes are like, I'm looking into her eyes. I need, and it's funny, I'm listening with
Carrie:my eyes, like, it's just funny because like we, I know what products you use, but I don't actually know what you do. Yeah. So then I use two toners on my face. I use a, a new heart leaf toner. I'll post all the links to all this on our stories because I know everyone's gonna have so many questions, so many questions. And I'll them in a highlight. Yes. And then I use the, I'm from Rice Toner, so those are both Korean products. So I use those on my face. I toner. I just like put them in my hands and I'll just pat them, pat them in your face. Don't rub them. Pat them. Pat, pat. And another thing that I'm gonna say, pat, don't neglect your chest. Right. Don't forget about that.
Kristine:Always go pull it all down. Pull it all the way down your neck and through your chest. Yes. It's like one of my favorite things. You,
me
Carrie:too. And it feels really satisfying. And then I'll give you another tip. Okay. You already have all that skincare on your hands. Put it on the back of your hands. Yes. Yeah. Because the back of your hands also age really fast. And you already have that skincare on there, so you might as well just wipe it on there. Yeah. Just the excess. Yeah. Because like your, your hands, they show your age, you know? They do. Yeah. And then I use an essence. and then I put snail mucin on my face.
Kristine:It's like my favorite product. She uses, she uses snail secretions, but it's like very popular.
Carrie:It is. Kay. So I was really skeptical and I, I still haven't decided. I went, th I've gone, I've gone through two bottles. I still haven't decided like a hundred percent. If I think it's like the end all be all, but. I'm gonna still keep using it because I do think it adds more moisture in my face. So it is called snail mucin and it is literally like they let snails crawl all over a, all over, like, I don't know, a surface and then they scrape it into a bottle so fucking weird. And they make a serum out of it. And so the theory behind it is that it acts kind of like a hyaluronic acid and it plumps up your skin. And you know what? I'm just gonna do it. I've never seen a wrinkly snail. So you know what, I'm just gonna gonna keep on keeping on not wrong there. Okay. Okay. So then I use niacinamide. Um, I use, I, I kind of hop around honestly. I'll use the glow recipe one in the morning'cause it's dewy, but I like inky list. Um, you can buy it at Sephora. It's honestly pretty inexpensive and I like it. So I'll use their hi their hyaluronic acid as well. Or sorry, was I on niacinamide? Was I talking about hyaluronic acid? I dunno where I was
Kristine:now. I don't know. Okay. Well either way, because you said them both a couple times and
Carrie:I got confused. I use both well. Yeah. So hyaluronic acid and niacin, niacinamide I use every morning and every night. Um, I just put them both together and I pat them on my face. Either the inky list or the glow recipe. Again, I promise I will link them all for you guys in our Instagram stories because I know this is a lot. Mm-hmm. In the morning I use vitamin C'cause it keeps you glowy at night. I use retinol. Do not mix retinol and vitamin C together. No, you burn your face off or they just won't work. And then I use face off. I use a lotion. Yeah. Um, so like I was mentioning in the winter, my skin gets really dry. I use a pretty heavy cream at night. Um, which not everyone can do. I use the Sara V like moisturizing cream. Yeah. And like it's thick. Yeah, that's good. And I just love it. And then in the daytime I use, um, The, I just add this skin fix peptide cream. I use that in the day for my lotion. Okay, nice. Yeah. And then I put sunscreen on. Yes. And I use a glowy as fuck skin sunscreen.
Kristine:Yeah. Which one do you use again? The laroche?
Carrie:No, no, not that one. No. Nick, that was a Brooke one. Nick and Nick and Brooke use that one. Um, it is the, I like how much you're gonna cut out because it's the super goop that's super goop glow screen. Oh, okay. Nice. So it has like shimmer in it, so it makes you look glowy. Ah, they also have a matte one, but that's cool. I really like it. Um, it has a little bit of tin in it and it makes me super glowy and that's the end of my daytime routine is sunscreen. The end of my nighttime is my lotion. Yep. Um, if you're gonna start using retinol, um, I recommend phasing it into your skin. It is very harsh. It helps encourage cellular turnover in your face. Mm-hmm. Because your face as you get older stops like, yeah. Bringing the new skin, fluffing off the old stuff. So it is kind of harsh. If you have something like rosacea or really sensitive skin, they actually don't even recommend you use it at all. Um, when I started using retinol, I used it one day a week, then two days a week, and then three days a week. And then I kind of built my tolerance up to now where I can use it, like I use it four or five times a week. Um, I don't use it more than that because one night a week I like to exfoliate my skin and one night a week I just like to give it a break.
Kristine:Yeah, that's good. It is also very important.
Carrie:It is. So I use it four or five times a week, um, on my face. So that's my whole regime. I'm gonna type it all out in a really nice long list'cause it is long and I use a lot of different products and I'll, I'll give you all my steps. Um, so when I was mentioning that I like to use medical grade skincare, one of the brands that I love is zeo. Mm-hmm. I use it too. Yeah. So I don't use it religiously because it's really expensive, but there are a couple of their pieces that I do really like their power defense I like to use before I put on my lotion. And I also like their. Hmm. Growth factor serum. Um, I'll use that sometimes at night and I find such, such a difference with it. Um, and then if I'm feeling saucy and I wanna buy like more, I'll just replace out. So if I wanna buy their lotion, I'll replace the lotion that I use with theirs. Um, if I want to use some of their, like their retinol is what I use. Yeah. Stuff like that. I do find it worth it. It's just my problem is I have a really hard time spending like a thousand dollars on skincare. Mm-hmm. It's just, yeah. It gets to be
Kristine:a lot. And you go through it fast enough that it's Yeah. It's really expensive to keep going. Yeah.
Carrie:And I'm not saying it's not important to use. No. It's just, it's not in everyone's budget. Yeah. And I'm trying agree. I've been just trying to find things that work for me that aren't. So expensive. Mm-hmm. You know? Well, yeah, it,
Kristine:like I said, like you, you go through them so fast. Yeah. Just to keep your cost a little bit. Yeah.
Carrie:Feasible better. And then I'll sub it in for where I think it's important. Totally. Like, I think retinol's really important, so I'll use that. My vitamin C I do use a medical grade, vitamin C. Um, I use Vivier and it's, yeah, I like that same. Oh yeah. Yeah.
Kristine:I like that. Yeah. That's what I use for my wash, my past and stuff. Oh
Carrie:yeah. Yeah. I like that. So I use their vitamin C. Um, but then there's other things I just don't, uh, I don't, and I'll replace it sometimes if I'm feeling saucy or if I have a little bit extra budget, but I just don't wanna blow my budget at the same time. Yeah. So just know you don't have to spend a ton of money to have good skincare products. Um, obviously the more you spend, in some instances, you're gonna have. Better, higher quality ingredients, but it's not, you are not, if you can't afford it, you're not gonna turn into the crypt keeper.
Kristine:Okay. No, you'll be fine. Yeah. Okay. I'm done. That was really good. Thank you. Thank you. I was very, um, Ted tuned in. Um, and then you'd say something, I'm like, oh yeah, I need to like, Grab my information on that. Yeah. For when I start talking. Oh, I like that. Okay. So, um, for face cleansers, I use the bi a, um, acne system. I took pictures of all my products and I just saw the picture I took of my, face wash is the back of my hand and about a quarter of my sink and a little bit of the back of the bottle. That's funny. So didn't too, too hot there for the photo. Mm-hmm. But I do use your ac their acne system. Yeah. So is their acne wash, um, which is paired with the acne treatment lotion. Um, it's got the benzo peroxide and et cetera, et cetera, and that. Mm-hmm. So that really helps. I've been using that. One of my girlfriends, um, she, where does the heck does she work? She works at, um, Like an aesthetician Yeah. Clinic type thing. Yep. Um, so she recommended this because she, after I was done my Accutane, she was like, well, what are you using on your skin? And,'cause I was having some issues with my acne popping up again and she's like, you really need to get on an acne treatment. Just because you don't have like tons of acne right now doesn't mean Yeah. You shouldn't be treating it absolutely all the time. So she actually set me up with this and I really, really ha, I'm really, really happy with it. Um, I've been using this for about probably eight months or so. Um, and then I also have another lotion that I follow up after. Um, after the acne treatment lotion. I do spray my space with the Sunday Riley Pink drink as well. Um, but we'll get to that. And then where's the lotion? Sorry. I have all these photos. the moisturizer is the Skin Cuticles, uh, daily moisturizer. It's a lightweight, poor, minimizing, I have pretty wide pores, so that's helpful for me and it's really nice, lightweight. I do use this at night and, um, for daily use as well. Um, so if you've been following me or following us for a while, you guys know that I've been using Sunday Reilly products for a really long time. There's some products that I still use that I still incorporate, mainly because I still have them. That's fair. And I just, they're fairly expensive. I wanna just use them and they work well still. Um, so I've been still using it. So washing my face, I usually typically start with a ceramic slip, um, uh, cleanser because it does break down your makeup. Mm-hmm. And it just like slides off your face, which is really nice. And then I'll wash my face with the acne stuff. I still spray my face with the pink drink. It's just affirming like toner that I really enjoy. Um, and it smells really good. Love that. Yeah. and then, I will use the vitamin C oil as well. Yes, I have oily skin, but don't be afraid of the oils. I use that, during the day pretty much every day. And then their glow, c e o lotion as well. Sometimes. Um, I'll do that probably about three, four times a week. I don't wanna overdo it with the stuff on my face just because of how, um, how heavy my face does get with oil. Mm-hmm. I don't wanna cram too much on it. and then I'll always end my, regime in the morning with my, sunscreen, which I use the image, 50, the 50 Ss p f this one is the mattifying one. It's quite thick. Um, but I really enjoy it.
Carrie:Yeah. I find it too
heavy
Kristine:for me. Yeah. And that's fair.'cause I can, as soon as I put it on my hand, I find I, I notice that it's very thick, especially have used the other one before. Um, it's definitely a thicker one, but I, I do enjoy it and my face needs it. Yeah. so that's pretty much the. Meat and potatoes that I use for my face, during the day. And then at night, mostly the same except for I do add a couple other Sunday Riley, pieces I do add in their Luna. Um, I'm gonna actually have it up here just so I can read about it a little bit. here it is. So it's a night oil and I really, really like it on my face. It's nice, lightweight, um, it just evens out your skin tone, reduces wrinkles and, and minimizes pores as well. Um, and then it helps with h spots, which I have. So, it also, it is a blue oil, so it, um, helps with my redness. Which I really enjoy. So I use that at night. So I kind of use a little bit of a mixed bag. And then, um, you were mentioning ZEO for yourself. That is my shower face wash. Yeah. I like that. So I have, when I was going through, um, the Accutane treatments, um, I was told by my dermatologist to use ze'cause it's quite gentle in your skin. Um, so I actually still have some leftover, but I only use it in a shower so I don't have to keep going back and forth mm-hmm. Out of the shower mm-hmm. And whatnot. And I really like it. It's just a gentle cleanser, um, that works well with my oily skin. So that's kind of Yeah. That's totally fair. What I use. It's a little bit of a mixed bag. Yeah. Um, the vivie though, that's like I am, it's a great product. So, so happy with it. Yeah. Um, all, everything that I use has been, trial and error. Mm-hmm. I've gone through so many different products. Um, With growing up with acne, like proactive was something that I always had in my house and never really worked. And it was always a trial and error
Carrie:and I've, and it's, and it probably bleached the shit out of everything You owned everything. Everything. Remember? I remember that. Well. I never used Proactive. Yeah. It Nick did and I remember every towel we had, it was orange. Yes.
Kristine:It sucked. I've also have been getting to this point, I've also dealt with a lot of dermatologists and a lot of just doctors trying to deal with my skin. Um, so now I just try to use less is more on my face. Mm-hmm. I do have whatever, five, six products that I still use in the morning. Yeah. But for myself, less is more because of how much oil my skin produces. Mm-hmm. Absolutely. I do also use, um, an eye cream pretty religiously. it's the hydro peptide, um, eye authority. I really like it. It's for dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines. I really, really enjoy it. I can actually see an active difference when I put it on. Um, so I make sure I use that every morning when I wake up and yeah. And then I have coffee, so I look awake.
Carrie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. If I, sorry. No. If I was gonna say one thing though, or two. Okay. I'm gonna give you two things that like to me are an non-negotiable sunscreen. Yes. Because you can't reverse the sun damage. No. There's a lot of things that you can use products for to help. Change your skin. So I was talking about like how I use niacinamide that helps to, like, I find when I don't use it, my um, pores get really clogged. Mm-hmm. It helps with that hyaluronic acid will help like plump your skin. Yeah. Retinol will help like with your cellular turnover, like I was saying in your face and like help with that. But you can't reverse the sun damage that your skin is going to have if you're not putting sunscreen on.
Kristine:Like, you can buy a, like a, a lip plumper. Yeah. But you can't buy new
Carrie:face skin. No, you can't. And you know, a lot of the products I use, I use for like, You know, it's more of like the maintenance and stuff. Yep. But like, you can't, you can't take that back. That's right. Unless you start doing really intense treatments, which Christine and I don't really do at this time. No. Um, I will also say that Christine and I have never injected our face with Botox. I get that question all the time. So do I I
Kristine:get, I get, um, lip plumper questions. Yeah. I just have a juicy
Carrie:bottom lip. Yeah. Yeah. So I've never had Botox. Yeah. I've never had filler. Um, my face is the one I was born with and there's nothing wrong with if you get Botox. Totally. That's, that's totally fine. It's just something I've opted not to do. Yeah. For personal reasons. I've actually
Kristine:have had Botox, but not on my face. No. It was for medical reasons for my, um, sweating in my, in my armpits. Yeah. Um, which it did work, by the way. Yeah. If anybody has been curious about that. It did work. It's just very, very, very painful, so. Mm-hmm.
Carrie:And expensive. And expensive. Yeah. Um, so I said, sorry, I said there was two non-negotiables. Wash your face. Yeah. Yeah. Like morning and night. And I know a lot of people don't wash their face in the morning, but I put a lot of products on my face, so it's really important to break them down. Yeah. And even if you don't wear makeup at the end of the day, you're gonna have a lot of crap on your skin from in the environment. Yeah. From your sunscreen. Yes.
Kristine:Wash it off. And your hands. Yeah. you touch your face with your hands. Mm-hmm. Even if you don't, if you're not a face toucher mm-hmm. You still touch your face. Mm-hmm. There's so much crap on your hands. Yeah. Get it off your
Carrie:face. You know what I found really wild? This is like, this is an off topic, but it's, it's not what we were just talking about. So when we were in Maui, um, we'd always go back to your place after the beach. Yeah. And I'd have a shower, wash my face. You'd have a shower, wash your face. Yeah. If I don't put lotion on my face immediately after washing it, I feel like my skin is going to snap off because I have dry skin. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Whereas like you don't. You don't. And I didn't realize that not everyone was like
Kristine:that. The only time I felt it,'cause I have felt it Yeah. Is when I was on Accutane. Yeah.'cause my face dried out so much. That's my skin feels
Carrie:all the time. That's wild. So if I don't put lotion on right after I, like, after I wash my face. Yeah. Uh, it feels like my skin is going to just snap off.
Kristine:Well, I'll make sure I have lotion for you.
Carrie:Thank you. Yeah, no problem. Yeah. Even if I use like a hydrating cleanser. Yeah. It's still, I still have to put lotion on. Wow.'cause I have dry skin.
Kristine:Yeah. You do You remember my dry face? Yes. And my dry lips. I do.
Carrie:I remember your dry lips. Ugh.
Kristine:They were still yucky. I
Carrie:don't use that. Yeah. Yeah. So like I said, I will put like a step-by-step what I do in the morning, a step-by-step, what I do at night, plus a link to all the products. I know my regime is like a little bit more. It doesn't take me long. It sounds like it would take me forever. It takes me less than 10 minutes. Yeah. It's just I use, I just go through a lot of steps. Yeah. Same because. I have found what works for me. Yeah.
Kristine:Yeah. And I'll, I'll do the same. Mine's a little bit more specific to Yeah. Taking care of a, a face who's gone through so much with acne. Um, but what I will do is I will be very vulnerable and I'll post a photo of what my face was when I had acne. Mm-hmm. Um, through kind of what it is now. Yeah. Because I do think it, there's a little bit more of a story Besides the product that I use. Um, but they do help. So if you have, or you have gone through or you have a friend or relative who've gone through this, maybe that's a little bit of an inspiration that there is a little bit, there's a, a light at the end of the tunnel there. Whenever
Carrie:I see on TikTok, people who are like starting their Accutane journey and they post pictures, I'm like, oh my God. I, I, I didn't realize how bad your acne was until it started to get better. It was
Kristine:the most painful, insecure, yeah. Depressive moment of my whole life. Um, I'm not kidding you. When I used to cry, when I would wash my face, that just the touch of water would, it would literally make a, a pimple burst. Mm-hmm. And it was so painful how deep they were. Oh,
Carrie:it's just awful. And whenever I get one, like. On like one, I'm talking one on my chin and like, you know when you touch it and it hurts, I'm like, I can't even believe that you had them everywhere. Yeah. And then like, it blows my mind.
Kristine:And then imagine talking. Yeah. So like you touch your face by accident, you touch that pimple and it, it shoots up your face like that nerve, imagine like them on your Yeah. And your smile lines. And you smile and then it shoots that nerve up. Mm-hmm. And it goes through your eyeball. Crazy. It's brutal. Anybody who gets like a one pimple or two, it, it just breaks my heart.'cause I know how painful they can be. Right. And then I get the feels, it
Carrie:feels so hard. So it's. Yeah. I can't, I can't, I can't imagine because I only had like, I only usually get one.
Kristine:Yeah. Now I'm like a one to two kind of gal. Yeah. Um, and then just normally like at that time in the month or whatever, I'll get mm-hmm. Like an extra one. But, um, now I'm like, oh, got one pimple. Like, doing good. Yeah. Look at fly. Yeah. But yeah. Acne's a bitch so bad. So bad. Yeah. It's such is life. But I hope that if anybody is going through it, that you are talking to a doctor, a dermatologist mm-hmm. And getting it, um, solved and just um, make sure you're pushing for yourself. Be your advocate.'cause they sometimes, you know, a slap of a cream on your face, that's not gonna be your answer. No. Sometimes you need something a little bit more intense. You
Carrie:do have to get your skin, like my skincare routine is because my skin is at a place where I don't need Yeah. Something specific. Exactly. Do you know what I mean? Like Yeah. Totally. It's why I just use basic cleansers because I don't feel like my skin needs the Yeah. Anything extra.
Kristine:Anything else. That's right. Yeah. But anyway, we'll probably key. So we're gonna do our episode on like our makeup and stuff another time. just'cause we are Yes. Running out of time. we have a very busy week this week. Uh, we're actually recording on a Wednesday again. Yep. Uh, we were supposed to record on Tuesday. Didn't happen. Um, that's totally fine. Such as life. So I hope this helps you guys and I hope that answers some of your questions. We will be getting to the cosmetic stuff, another episode. Absolutely. Um, yeah.
Carrie:Okay.
Kristine:Okay. Ready for some listener questions. Carrie?
Carrie:Yeah. Where do you get your eyebrows Done.
Kristine:Okay.
Carrie:I love this question. Me too. I get asked all the time if I get microblading. Oh yeah. All the time. I love that. All the time.
Kristine:That's good. I do not. That's good. No, I did once. Yeah. Uh, and then I never went back. because of Covid, not because of anything else. Yeah. I just didn't go back. Yeah. I still have some of the shape. Yeah. which I thoroughly enjoy. I don't, I don't go anywhere for my eyebrows, but I do need some cleaning. I need to get it cleaned up a little bit. Yeah. But I haven't gone anywhere. I do my own brows. Yeah. So
Carrie:I go to Layle at about dem browse. I'll also link this in a story. My gosh, I need to make a list. Can you just text it to us? Yeah. What we need to add in our thing. Um, so I go to her, so sometimes I'll do, what else did we say earlier? Um, all of our products. Oh yeah. Our regime. And then I'll link Layle. Um, I have pretty thick brows still. Like they're not thick like Christine's, but like mine are pretty like dense, so I don't need a lot of fill. And I also don't like them too, too thick on my face. They just don't work with my eye shape.'cause.'cause of the way my eyes are shaped, but I like to go for henna sometimes, just like, so I don't have to fill them in. But otherwise you guys, she just does the shaping and I fill them in myself. Yeah. I can't, yeah. I'm not wild like that. Um, okay, someone said, do we donate to charities on behalf of the boutique or do we ever do something where some profits or sales go to charity? That's a really good question. So yes, we do. We do. Um, it's very important
Kristine:to us that we give back when we can. It is.
Carrie:Um, I would like to say though, that we don't always advertise when we donate. I don't, I don't ever want anyone to think that we're donating money. For PR purposes. Right. So, um, a lot of times when Christina and I make donations, whether it's to, um, like the Kidney Foundation, which is one that's really close to us, or like the diabetes Foundation or whatever we choose to do on a regular basis, we always donate to the Stollery because it holds a place in our heart. Um, a lot of times we just do that on the side in silence and I just want everyone to know like, we do donate. Yeah.
Kristine:We just don't, uh, it's just not, we don't. Make it public. It's, yeah. And it's not that it's bad if you do. No, no, no, no, no. It's just, we don't wanna make it, like you said, like a PR thing. Mm-hmm. We don't want it that, to take over the meaning behind it. Exactly.
Carrie:Exactly. So there has been a couple times in the past where, um, we lost a customer to cancer a couple years ago, and we did name a whole entire line after them and donated the proceeds. Um, and we've done other fundraisers like that. We'll always disclose that when we do it, but honestly, a lot of the times we just, we do do it regularly throughout the year. Um, I do, I also donate a lot personally, um, especially to the Stollery. My daughter spent five days in the Stollery when she was three. So, and we had such a great experience there. So it's something that my husband and I always donate to each year. Um, but yeah, like, it's just not something we. Exactly. We advertise, but we do. Um, we are very fortunate that we have the opportunity to make donations like that. And it is very important to us. It's just not something that we talk about that often. Mm-hmm. Um, we also do, do donations of clothing a couple times a year. That's right. If we have any product that, we have leftover or maybe some pieces that haven't moved, or even just sometimes pieces that we just didn't have time to launch, we'll always make sure that we donate them, whether it's to a women's shelter or to another, um, cause like that. That's right. Okay. Yeah. Good answer. Good job. Carrie. Carrie, are you ready for Fuck Mary, kill? I have mine.
Kristine:Yeah. I'm like 14 seconds away. Okay. I'm just going screen to screen and I was, I was like listening in as well as while you were talking. Yeah. So I didn't wanna like, um, no, that was fine.
Carrie:You know, I have mine if you, I'll wait for you. Yeah. Just gimme two seconds. Yeah. Um, so thank you guys for listening. To our skincare like jam. And I think you guys were always asking, I get asked a lot and honestly, my skincare routine has been evolving so much over the last year, um, as I've found what works with for me. Um, I had C O V I D last August, and when I tell you after I recovered from it, my skin went bonkers. I'm not kidding you. I couldn't use anything on my face. I could only use the Cera v hydrating cleanser and the Cera v. Moisturizing cream. It is the only thing that worked for me, I don't know if you remember. Mm-hmm. But my eyelids were like, I was getting contact dermatitis from everything. Yeah. That was really wild. Everything that touched my skin, my sunscreen was making me breakout. Vitamin C was making me breakout in this rash. Like, it was insane. I probably had like four months that I couldn't use any products on my face. Yeah. I remember. That was wild. And we didn't know Covid was such a weird, right. So weird. Like what? So I had it and then pretty much instantly we went to Vegas a couple weeks after I recovered. And um, we were at the pool one day and I had a rash all over my face. Mm-hmm. Yeah, it was really great. And I was like, what is this? Yeah. And it continued for months. So this year, once I could start introducing products again, I really started to try to find something different that worked for my face. And that's why I've been building my routine. Mm-hmm. And that's why I don't talk about it much, because I still was trying to find what worked for me. Mm-hmm. And I'm just getting to a place now where I've consistently been doing the same thing for the last four or five months. Cons consist. Consistency. It's key. Yeah, it is. It's key. Don't, don't expect to slap the shit on your face and like the next day look like, yeah. You're 18 again.
Kristine:Right. I mean, I takes time. I wish it takes time. Another thing that I, I knew that it was something that bothered me. Um. My, in my gut really, uh, dairy, but I didn't realize mm-hmm. How much it was actually bothering my skin. Yeah. So once I, um, kind of, I do more so just have lactose-free items now, but I have more or less cut out a lot of dairy and I've noticed a big difference in my acne as well. So yeah. Just a little extra tidbit of information. Okay. I am ready for the, okay. Fuck Mary. Kill. Okay.
Carrie:Fuck Mary. Kill, lost edition. Yeah, I've been waiting for this. Yeah. Okay. Sawyer.
Kristine:Oh yeah. Jack. Oh,
Carrie:daddy. Oh, there's Daddy.
Kristine:Oh my. Yeah. Okay.
Carrie:How do you pick through those three? Okay.
Kristine:Oh, that's tough. It is tough. I, I've been waiting for this, but I've never actually like
Carrie:Yeah. Thought about it. It was coming. I was letting you get a little deeper in the show. My heart actually hurts. Yeah.
Kristine:So I just want out crazy information about Jack, by the way, last night. Yeah. Uh, yeah. I'll tell you off podcast'cause I don't want to ruin it for anybody, but, um, so I think I would, oh shit. I think, hey, oh, I don't want to, but I think I'd kill Sawyer, although his nicknames that he gives people bringing me the most joy. I think I'm gonna kill Sawyer. Okay. I think I'm going to Buck Saeed and Mary Jack.
Carrie:Yeah.
Kristine:I love Saeed though. Oh, he is just delicious.
Carrie:He is fantastic. He is
Kristine:so handsome. He's like, his accent makes me like, yeah. So. Ready to go. Yeah. And then Jack is just like delicious. He's smart. He's a doctor. He is very like forward and kind. Yeah. I think I'd marry him. Okay. Yeah. Like in a perfect world, I'd fucking marry them all. Yeah. It's tricky. That is tricky. I'd kill Sawyer though. That's fair. He's super handsome though. Yeah. Oh yeah. We need to talk about the past episodes that I just watched. I like that we have to have conversations. Yeah. Yeah. Highly recommend the show though, guys. Watch it. So good.
Carrie:Okay. Yeah. Over the end.
Kristine:Sign Sealed the levered baby. Okay. I'm locked in. Okay. Okay. Thanks. I love it. Thank you. That was a really good one. Anytime hurt my soul though. Oh,
Carrie:I don't. Ugh.
Kristine:I love Saeed. I love, I do Sawyer
Carrie:too. He'd be the one I'd kill though. Saeed. You'd kill Saed. I'd fuck Sawyer in a heartbeat. Yeah, he,
Kristine:he would be. Great.
Carrie:Yeah. I love him. He's delicious. I've like,'cause he used to tell me how much you hated him. I'm like, I love Sawyer. You're So, at the
Kristine:beginning I hated him. Yeah. But then, then he kind of got a little, he a little bit better. He was less of a dick. Yeah. And more, um, just like funny. Mm-hmm. Kind of egotistical. Mm-hmm. Guy. Yeah. But whatever. Anyway. Okay. Carrie, fuck.
Carrie:Mary Kill. Yes. Uh,
Kristine:I don't really have a title for this edition. It has one, but I just haven't thought of it yet. Yeah. Hot Guy Edition. Okay. Hot Guy Edition. Hot Guy. Okay. We're going, you can either go either direction here, you can go the character or you can go the actor. Okay. Feel free to Okay. Choose whatever. Because in the shows, they do get older. They don't stay high school age. Okay. Ryan Atwood. So that's Ben Mackenzie from the oc? Yep. Or Ryan from the C. Yeah. Chuck Bass. Or Ed Westwick. Hey, from Gossip Girl? Yeah. Lucas Scott or Chad? Michael Murray.
Carrie:Wow. Doozies. Okay,
Kristine:so this is like your Yeah. Hot drama. Yeah.
Carrie:Yeah. Hot
Kristine:guy. Yeah. Episode situation. Okay. it's toughy.
Carrie:Kate. This is really hard for me. Kate, Chuck is where I struggle because I can't figure out which category I'd, I mean, it would never kill him. Just everyone knows. And like Chuck, if,
Kristine:if he's listening. Chuck,
Carrie:if you're listening. Chuck, are you listening? In my dream math, um, Kate, so I like, I am very attracted to like, Douchy personalities, apparently, because I love Chuck. Like I love Yeah. Everything about Chuck. Yeah. And I mean, I think in the later episodes he's 18, he's over 18, so we're going with Chuck here, but I just dunno if I'm gonna marry him or fuck him.
Kristine:He's definitely older. Yeah. In the later episodes. In the later season. Yeah. Oh yeah, because it go university.
Carrie:It's fine. Um, okay. So I'd kill Ryan. Wow. That, that shook me to the core. Yeah. I'd kill Ryan. No
Kristine:way. Yeah. Wow. That I didn't, I was not Yeah. Expecting that. Yeah. Because
Carrie:I love Chad, Michael Murray. I know you do. Yeah. If you would've given me Nathan Scott, this would've been like the fucking Sophie's choice over here because I don't know, like Nathan is like, I almost did. I actually had it right now. Nathan is my, um, him in between him and Chuck. I would've had a really hard time. Okay. Just, what am I gonna do with
Kristine:Chuck though? I really thought you were gonna kill Lucas Scott. No.
Carrie:Nope. And I it Luke, I'm not going with Lucas though. I'm going with Chad Marie. Yeah. Yeah.'cause I don't really like Lucas's character very much. Um, I am going to, these are both really hard today. Mary, Chuck. Yeah. Do that girlfriend, because I mean, there's a lot of reasons, but I would like to be near him every day of my life. Yeah, yeah. Good for you. And he's the billionaire, so Yeah. I mean, that's, that's not too shabby. I mean, it helps. Did you see the ring that he bought, uh, her when they got married or engaged? Like, I'd like one of those. I don't think I did, but I'll have, look it up. Yeah. Okay. I'm like one of
Kristine:those.
Carrie:Um, okay. And then I will fuck Chad. Michael Murray. Yeah. Good. Not, not Lucas though. Lucas
Kristine:cut. He'd be so fucking emotional.
Carrie:Oh my God. He would just always be crying. You guys would be
Kristine:like, fucking, and he'd be like, it's always been You get it together.
Carrie:Get it together. Get it together. Lucas, I just, his personality on the show like really aggravates me. Well, he's a fucking
Kristine:broody.
Carrie:Ugh. Sad. Sad. I don't do well with the broody sad sex. Um, but I do like Chad, Michael Murray. I saw him on a plane once. Yeah. Um, and then, yeah, I'd kill Ryan. Yeah. Okay. That's,
Kristine:it's just because I don't like him.
Carrie:I find him very attractive. Yeah. But I am definitely partial to Chad. Michael Murray. Yeah.
Kristine:Well, yeah. Aren't we all?
Carrie:Yeah, he's very attractive. He is. He's, he's getting a little bit thin for my tastes, my personal tastes. Yeah, I agree with that. Um, but that's okay. To each their own. To
Kristine:each their own. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'm really excited to be your, uh, I'm hoping, I don't know, I'll be something at your wedding or when you marry Chuck. You can, you can marry us. Thank you. Yeah, I, fun fact for you guys. I'm marrying my sister and her fiance in like two weeks. In two weeks. Y'all ready for that? No, I haven't written a thing down. Less than two weeks. I haven't even got the thing yet from the government to gimme my thing yet. Oh yeah, my certificate. So I actually have to email them today and be like, what? What's SAPs I need, I need to get this ready. Um, I will be sneaking in nineties rap lyrics into my
Carrie:speeches, which is the best part in my opinion.
Kristine:Yes. So Tupac will be making appearance just through,
Carrie:just through his lyrics. Amazing. But yeah. Anyway.
Kristine:Well, that was a really good time, Carrie. That was fun.
Carrie:It was educational. It was educational. I really liked hearing about what you put on your face. Thanks. I like that you used Vivier and so do I.
Kristine:Yeah, I, yeah, about eight months ago or something. I really enjoy it. It's, it, it's nice. Yeah.
Carrie:It's nice. The cool thing about their vitamin C I don't, I don't use that one yet. I'm like back, I'm back here again. That's okay. So they come in three separate bottles? Yeah, they're monthly bottles. Oh, nice. And like you actually activate it. Yeah. That's cool. Because if you guys didn't know vitamin C can break down, breaks down like fast like a week. Yeah. If it's exposed to sunlight and then it's useless. So they come in really dark bottles and you activate them. Yeah, I was
Kristine:gonna say, that's why most bottles when they come in, they're colored of some sort. Yeah. So they don't let the light in. Yeah. Which is a weird, weird
Carrie:thing. Okay. Have a good rest of your week you guys, and we will see you next week.
